Daily Inspiration: Meet Benny Qualmann With Some Friends

Today we’d like to introduce you to Benny Qualmann With Some Friends

Hi Benny Qualmann, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a guy who was born in Orlando, then raised in the suburbs of Altamonte Springs. For the past decade I’ve been very involved in the local music scene scene as a promoter and musician; predominantly singing, screaming and playing drums in bands.

There are several bands and projects people locally would remember me from, but I currently sing in a metalcore band called “With Some Friends”. I started this band in 2020 with a vision to push the envelope of metalcore by weaving in diverse genres, vocal techniques, and aesthetics. Currently we’ve got a great team of very dedicated producers and the talented musicians in this camp, and now we are gearing up to unveil some new songs for everyone this year.

Couldn’t do it without my guys Pedro, Slav, and Thomas.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think there are always trials and tribulations in any endeavor you get yourself into it and this band has definitely had it’s share of diversity and lineup changes, but you just keep creating and keep going.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Well, I’ve been playing drums since I was 10… and I feel like everyone thinks they’re a singer… but I started taking it seriously when a band asked me to be their frontman when I was 17.

I taught myself how to sing and scream by listening to the album “Stand Up and Scream” by Asking Alexandria and practiced to it everyday. I consider Danny Worsnop to be my main influence on my vocals and I still go back and reference that album to this day.

I’m proud of the things I’ve accomplished as performer, which include opening for a bunch of my favorite bands like Volumes, and Like Moths to Flames and playing some of my favorite venues like The Social and The Masquerade.

I feel like what really sets us apart is the atomosphere in our music and the energy in our performance. You gotta bring it every time you take the stage. Take advantage of every opportunity and own every moment.

How do you think about happiness?
Few things in life bring me as much joy as joining forces with a trusted group of friends to create something special, and then watching that collective effort not only succeed but also positively influence people’s lives.
