Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Nazario.
Hi Bianca, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started Simply Bee Clothing Co. in 2018, during my freshman year in college at Savannah College of Art and Design. At first, I only sold handmade Disney-inspired Minnie ears, and then in 2020, I expanded into stickers, prints, clay pins, and paintings! I have always been a creative and starting an outlet where I can share my work with others has been an amazing experience thus far. I have also started to attend creative vendor markets with Collective Body Orlando, which I co-created with a friend of mine in 2020. My father is an artist as well and has continued to support me in my art endeavors and given me the tools and advice I needed to get me where I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely been a journey to the kind of art I create and sell today. During 2018 creating Minnie ears were very popular and since I had a love for Disney, I decided to go that route. That market was very competitive and oftentimes caused me to compare my creations with others and would make me feel like giving up. After experimenting with the kind of art I wanted to create and sell, it led me to working with many mediums and expanding my style. Patience and experimenting with your talents are something that takes a lot of time and growth, but I wouldn’t change the path that I took if I could go back and change it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Right now, my small business is something that I do for fun but would love to have it as my sole income one day. I am currently am a senior at UCF studying Advertising/PR and creative writing. After I graduate my goal is to become a copywriter and work for a creative agency in Orlando. After working in the advertising world for a couple of years I also want to open a creative coffee shop with my partner somewhere in Orlando. There are so many things I want to accomplish during my lifetime and I hope I am able to execute everything with grace.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising about me is that I never saw myself wanting to run a small business. I thought it would be a hobby for a little bit and I would get tired of it and stop. After getting positive feedback and support from others around me it stuck with me. I am really glad I kept up with it and continue to grow in the process.
