Daily Inspiration: Meet Bonnie Harrington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Harrington

Hi Bonnie , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The Circle Line is comprised of myself, Bonnie Harrington, on vocals and keys, Andy Harrington on guitar, Dave Clark on bass, and Michael Constantine on drums. Before we officially formed as “The Circle Line” we were friends and bandmates within other projects. Andy is my partner of over 10 years, and I played with his band, Heliophonic. Dave and I worked together as “hired guns” in a few bands and I was featured on a song with his solo project, Slow Machines. Michael and I had worked together in a band called “Whisper to a Riot”.

In the winter of 2023, I emailed a little song idea to the fellas for their input. We began emailing back and forth and developing what would became our first release, “I Find Myself”. We completed the first song within a weekend, and released it in March. Within a few weeks of release, we received a write up in Brevard Live and some radio play on 89.5 WFIT. Building on the momentum of the first song, we continued writing together and released three more singles that year.

In the fall of 2023, we began developing a live show. We started getting together for a big “family dinner” (we take turns cooking) and rehearsal. It’s something that I still look forward to every week!

In 2024, The Circle Line released 4 more singles and began performing for live audiences. It has been a wonderful experience, and we can’t wait to do more!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Art reflects life, so making art is inevitably going to have ups and downs. The music we are making is inspired by our own (rather eclectic) influences, and we have intentionally resisted the urge to corral the work into a single clean-cut genre. The creative freedom we enjoy is very exciting, but it would probably be easier to market if we kept ourselves “in the box” a little more. With that being said, the thrill of creative license is part of what drew us all into writing together in the first place.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Each of our songs is like its own little scene with its own unique soundscape. We aren’t afraid to get a little theatrical, and we never shy away from the drama of a big synth. We really love playing music, and playing it together. I think that comes across clearly in our work.

One highlight: we had the chance to play an acoustic set for a “Rock ‘n Flow” Yoga class at The Yogi Perogi in Melbourne, FL (photo included). It was a really special performance experience, and one I’d definitely love to do again!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I’ve been singing professionally since I was a little kid, and most of my favourite memories center around performing. When I was 8, I was invited to sing live on-air for Nickelodeon UK. Afterward, I was interviewed by a very anthropomorphised computer-generated fish. It was really interesting to see how live TV worked behind the scenes. From the perspective of an 8 year old, it was one of the best days ever.
