Hi Brunette, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was that little girl in the neighborhood going around doing everyone’s hair, from my mom to her friends, my friend classmates, etc. I never really paid it much attention, years later. So am in 2015, 4 and a half deep into my relationship with my partner, on May 18th, I found out he was cheating on me.
So I give up everything and left with just my clothes and my car. Within the 3 weeks that I was sleeping in my car, I decided to start doing hair again because I was flat broke. So I started going to dating apps and advertising I retwist dreadlocs to different guys. And that was the birth of 1st Lady Locs. At first, she had no name… the name came to me one day at work. I was working at a call center at the time but I was getting paid every 2 weeks hints why I was broke in-between times.
I meet my now husband 4 months later and we’ve been building ever since. A year later, I quit my job and when to school to get my cosmetology license. And here we are 5-6 years later!! Now we’re #1 on Google for Dreadlocs in Orlando, FL. We just hired our 2nd employee and are on track to purchase our very first commercial property this year! So to sum it up life is great!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh no, we struggled a lot at first with getting clients in the door constantly. We getting the services down pat. With location so many struggles for sure… but we never gave up.
