Today we’d like to introduce you to Cathia Menendez.
Hi Cathia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Thank you for the opportunity to share my story. Its crazy to think how far I have come .I started my career path when I was 19, I studied Esthetician and makeup artist when I was living in Puerto Rico, and I was working at the same time in a Beauty department store as a Beauty Advisor. I move to Orlando in 2016 and I got a transfer from the store in PR to one here in Orlando.I can say the for a period of time I enjoyed what I was doing in my job. I was growing in the company .
I was a counter manager, and I was about to move to a higher position, but at the same time I was about to have my first child and I was going through a lot of changes. After I got back from my maternity leave, I felt the something was missing and the job the I was doing wasn’t fulfilling anymore. I decided to take a course for Lash Extensions, and I I renew my Esthetician license i didn’t know at the time what I wanted to do next, but I was preparing myself.
After a month I decided to resign my job and I started my own business in my house in a little corner in my living room. My partner at that time and my friend Paola Rodriguez (my current business partner) were the ones who believed in me since day one. After a rough couple of month my business started to flourish, when I move, I had the opportunity to have an extra room for my business, and after that everything started to fall into place. In 2021 me and my Business partner Paola Rodriguez founded our business call Beauty Cave and got our first location in the Semoran Blvd. Since we open is been like an adventure ,we even offer trainings in our salon/studio (Lash Extensions training, Brow, etc.)
Having a business can be tough but I can really say having the right people by your side knowing what you want plus working hard towards your goals is everything. We still growing our business and every day we learn something new, but I can say we are so proud of have far we have come, and we even have our own brand of Lash Extensions, Lash Glues, and shampoo for our trainings and for the local Lash Artist as well.
This still the beginning of our Business and I am happy to think the one day my daughters are gonna look at me and feel so proud of their mom for working so hard for a brighter future.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The toughest time I can say it was when I needed to close my business for the COVID-19 pandemic. I was really sad plus I was pregnant with my second child. But god has a purpose for everything the happened in your life. That year was really hard for me, but God close some doors to open better ones. And look, now we have our own salon and new opportunities and I have my third child own the way so I can really say you can do everything you put your mind into. Work hard for what you want and don’t settle for less.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in Brows, Lashes, and Skin treatment. I love my clients’ face when they look themselves in the mirror , seeing my clients’ face after every service how happy they are and satisfied is everything for me. And that is why is really important for me to make my clients feel comfortable and heard. They love coming to my space because no only they leave looking more beautiful they leave feeling more happy as well is like a therapy for them.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I have always been good connecting with my clients and listening to them I know they love that about me because I make sure to accomplish my clients’ need. Some of my clients have become family. When you come to our salon is always gonna be a unique experience.
