Today we’d like to introduce you to Charis Ortiz.
Hi Charis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Jewelry always has been one of my favorite things. Whether selling it or making it. But when my nieces, Izzabella, Camila, and Valentina, were between the ages of 4 and 9, they were fascinated with my personal jewelry and my mother’s’ who by the way is my fasion Guru…I just thought …wouldn’t it be fun!!!
Then Bella (short for Izzabella), Mila (short for Camila), and Nina (short for Valentina)… was born.
I have had the pleasure of seeing them grow and see how their fashion sense evolves as years go by.
I have also had the pleasure to create jewelry with my grandmother who is now 100 years old. She loves to bead.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Far from it. I started making jewelry back in 2018 but never launched it. Then the pandemic hit, and well you all know what that did to us.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My other passion is Recruiting I’ve worked in Recruiting for almost 25 years. I have seen all the changes take place and it has been rewarding and fun, but now I have the desire to create. Jewelry has taken over. Whether is resin, polymer clay, or just beading, it’s rewarding to see a project from beginning to end, and just know it will make someone happy or be the last piece to compete the outfit.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Life is change and it should be embraced! Always!
But most importantly do what makes you happy!
