Daily Inspiration: Meet Damon Barnes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damon Barnes.

Hi Damon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started March of 2020. During the start of the pandemic, I had more free time on my hands. To keep myself busy, I started capturing High School Senior pics for free. The class of 2020 were unable to have a normal end to their senior year. The shoots allowed the seniors to put a smile on their faces and allowed me to work on lighting, settings and to get better familiar with my camera. The more I shot, the better I got. Soon I was asked to shoot more than seniors. Since March of 2020, I expanded my portfolio to include a lot of fitness, family, lifestyle and even more senior shoots.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I struggled early on settings, reaching out to strangers on social media, and learning the business. Setting are no longer an issue; I have become more open about reaching out people on social media. I’ve made adjustments that have made the business part a lot easier for me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve more fitness shoots than any other. Between fitness and senior shoots, I believe they make me the most proud.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
