Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Montenegro.
Hi Daniel, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m an artist, rapper, songwriter, podcast host, lawyer, and citizen of the world originated from Caracas, Venezuela. In love with music since I could make any sense of things. Went to school in Venezuela. Graduated from law school at 22 and emigrated to Canada with a dream for a better quality of life and an opportunity to fulfill my dreams and eventually fulfill my biggest goal which is to take care of my family who has given me everything. Learned the language and did all types of jobs, from cook to construction work. During the pandemic, I realized that life is short and we should do what we love no matter what. It was then when I decided to materialize my talents and start recording and sharing my music recently (1 and half years ago) the impact in my mental health was immediate and the support from my family and friends was unconditional. Started being a part of the Vancouver Latin freestyle community and the music scene of Canada. Met amazing people in the process and realized that I was cooking something great. Kept making music and life brought me to Orlando where my family resides since 7 years ago. With the aim for recharging energies and networks came to Orlando with one goal. To be myself and pursue my dreams. The universe took care of the rest. Put in my way the right people for me to start building brick by brick this massive building dreams and goals achieved. Now I’m working at Beatspodz studios with Daniel Cedeño and Alejandro Hermoso in downtown Orlando. Whom gave me an opportunity of a lifetime and decided to work alongside with me. We are working on many projects not only Musical wise and I’m certain that very soon, everybody not only in the city but the whole world will know about us, and about our amazing team filled with talent. I’d like to thank Orlando voyage magazine for the opportunity and I can promise I won’t let you down. Join me on my adventures. We’ll have a blast.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There’s no such thing as the easy road or shortcuts. Not for freedom and success, peace and happiness which are the most important things human beings need. My mom raised me with my grandma in one of the topmost dangerous cities in the world. My dad was an amazing father and taught me how to be a gentleman.
We had very little resources. My mom used to sell slices of cakes and pops while I was in my swimming classes at the public pool. Doing everything and anything to keep me being educated. They sacrificed everything. By the age of 10, my mom and dad got together again for my coming baby sister. Moved to a different city and continued to hustle. But in a country where it’s almost impossible to overcome poverty we faced many obstacles and struggles. We never let that stopped us. We just worked and pushed our way through with hard work and commitment. Facing all these challenges we are still here alive and healthy to tell our story and to let the world know that it is possible, that you can and that everything is in the willpower of your brain. So just keep going. You’re not alone, I promise that. Keep going and the universe will take care of you.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a full-time artist. Constantly working on my crafts which is my biggest therapy. Loving music since early in my life I’m now a full-time hip-hop artist.
I’m a songwriter and I basically write about what my soul has to say. I express my feelings and emotions, successes and failures. Everyday struggles that people can identify with and happiness that I believe everyone should be able to experience.
Writing for the heart I’m able to tell not only my story but to be a voice for the minority and those unheard. I’m known for my ability to put into paper my heart and soul. For my ability to write and improvise on the spot. And my creativity and way of connecting with people. I’m the most proud of myself for breaking the barrier of fear and just dare to be happy and free. I’m proud to say that if I have to leave this world today, I’m more than happy with the human being I am today and my legacy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck exists, bad or good. But it’s all about the energy that you project. As simple as if you wake up in the morning and you decide to complain about a million things, for sure you can do that. But I assure you that you can wake up in the morning and have two million reasons to be happy and grateful for. It’s all in your mind. I know too many this sounds like a cliche. But energies couldn’t be more real. Project, think, enunciate your dreams and goals and move, work, believe, and the universe will take care of the rest and you’ll have good luck on your side.
