Today we’d like to introduce you to Danna Alencar.
Hi Danna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had a passion for music but never thought I’d pursue a career with it! I studied Psychology and Philosophy in school and was working in the Behavioral Therapy field when I accidentally started DJing. It was supposed to be just for fun between my friend’s bands sets but then people started booking me for private and public events. About eight years later, I am now full-time DJ playing all over central Florida for various types of events. I love so many different genres every gig is exciting for me. I am so thankful to work doing something I love so much and to also see the joy it brings others. During the pandemic, I founded The Locals Mix to support our creative community. We highlight local artists, musicians, entrepreneurs and nonprofits by putting on events, video recaps and interviews. Celebrating is important for our mental health and I’m so happy we are all getting back to it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Juggling a career and motherhood is pretty crazy but I’m very lucky to have incredibly supportive family and friends.

I specialize in bringing good vibes and great tunes to every event. My broad knowledge of music from various genres helps to make sure the playlist is eclectic and catered specifically to each event. With The Locals Mix, it’s my passion to do whatever I can to support creative community. The events we put on highlight locals with various talents.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
It was during the pandemic that I founded The Locals Mix to make sure there is an event in any event! Creatives need to have a platform to showcase their passions no matter what is going on.
