Daily Inspiration: Meet Destinee Blanks-Corley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destinee Blanks-Corley.

Hi Destinee, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My Journey Started in 2014 at Aveda Institute in Orlando. Honestly, my dream was never to become a hairdresser, growing up I saw myself as a world-renowned personal chef but one day I woke up and decided to apply to hair school.

I walked into the institute not knowing the difference between a ceramic brush and boar bristle brush. But as I continued in school my love for this profession grew. I loved being able to transform my guest’s look with a haircut and color that makes their eyes and face pop! The fulfillment I received when my guests look at themselves in the mirror, smiling and saying “I love it!” When they see their hair, that in itself made my appreciation for being a hairdresser grow!

Fast forward to today (2022) I am a salon manager and stylist at X’spreshun Hair Studio, a modern, top-rated salon in the Downtown Sanford area. I’ve kept my motivation by keeping myself up to date with new techniques to be able to continue give my guest great hair and help them fall in love with their hair over and over again!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been pretty blessed for the most part. Of course, there has been times in my life where I’ve felt tired to the point of giving up but I’ve discovered that if I continue to put God first in my life and surround myself with like-minded individuals who are motivated by their love for Jehovah, for people and work hard, the rest will fall into place. I also have family that has motivated me supported since day one and I believe that they wouldn’t even allow me to quit!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Hairdresser or Hair Artist as I like to say! I am the stylist for the people who love their hair or are trying to grow in love with their hair.

My love is to cut, color, and style all the curls, kinks, and coils! My specialty is giving my guests the tools they need to care for their tresses in the best way possible!

What sets me apart is I truly care for my guest’s hair; I keep up to date on necessary education so whatever I do for my guests comes from a place of knowledge and understanding.
