Daily Inspiration: Meet Emerald McIntyre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emerald McIntyre.

Emerald, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been singing since the age of 3, influenced by my father Emerson McIntyre and many Gospel greats. Music has always been a major part of my life and especially throughout my entire education. I’ve sung with many artists from Celine Dion, Yolanda Adams, Byron Cage, Tye Tribbett, Fred Hammond, and Hezekiah Walker just to name a few. Throughout my singing career, I’ve learned, developed, and achieved so much that has helped me get to the place I’m in today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve had challenges from my childhood dealing with learning who is Emerald. I was married for 6 years and was blessed with two beautiful girls but the marriage ended due to wrongful decisions I made and it affected my family and myself greatly. Throughout my life, I have struggled with low self-esteem, insecurities, depression, and have had suicidal thoughts. In 2020, I lost my father who was such a major part of my life and also my home due to a fire that left me homeless for a little while.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an artist/creative, I’m a worship leader, entertainer, actor, and decorator. I specialize in helping others develop a better version of themselves whether it be through singing, ideas, or simply just life. I’m most proud of making it this far and achieving so much during this period in my life. What sets me apart from others is my uniqueness, abilities, diversity, and more importantly my anointing. I believe what God has given me is strategically divine and can’t be duplicated.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My parents are my number one supporters, and cheerleaders and always play a major part in my life. I’m grateful for Dr. Kimberly Hanes who was my awesome vocal teacher in college, she helped me develop and nurture more of my classical/opera voice and range. I’m grateful for my good friend/brother James Hines who is an awesome vocal coach and background vocalist expert and he’s helped me define my blending and become a great BGV when needed. Lastly, I thank my friend/mentor David Allen who went the extra mile of helping me nurture and develop my gift from my performance as an artist and worship leading.
