Daily Inspiration: Meet Eryn Vargo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eryn Vargo.

Hi Eryn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I took over as owner of Orlando Mom Collective in May 2021. Orlando Mom Collective is a locally-focused parenting resource for moms and families. Passionate about parenting and our community, Orlando Mom Collective strives to connect area moms to relevant resources, local businesses, can’t-miss happenings, and most of all — each other! I was a contributor and on the team for seven years and then when the opportunity came to purchase it, I did not hesitate.

Prior to owning Orlando Mom, I was the Director of Marketing for Panera Bread for seven years and Nona Title for almost four years. I also had my own small marketing business in between both of those awesome jobs.

I have four kids (19, 17, 9 & 4.5 years old) and have lived in Orlando for 15 years.

I love all things marketing and philanthropy. I founded the Diaper Bank of Central Florida in 2014 and closed the doors in 2020 due to covid. The Diaper Bank contributed over 200,000 diapers to local families in need and families that were struck by hurricanes in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Through Orlando Mom Collective, I strive to connect local moms in Central Florida through our events and our online platform. I also LOVE supporting small businesses and women in our community, so OMC partners with and promotes lots of women-owned businesses. OMC is also a resource for local parents too.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing worth it is easy. Owning a business is a daily struggle but so worth it. It is lots of planning and little things that need to get done, but the reward is awesome. I love working with local small businesses and promoting them to our audience. Right now, the biggest challenge I have is COVID. We want to get back to our events, but we have decided to reschedule our January Moms Night Out, just to err on the side of caution. Other than that, it is the typical small business struggles…

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I own Orlando Mom Collective.

We are like a mini agency that promotes local businesses and products for moms/families. We are a resource for parents in Central Florida and provide valuable content and information for all stages of parenting. We bring moms together through our events and our social media platforms.

I am most proud of the community of moms that we have on our team and in our audience supporting our small business and the small businesses that we work with. It is awesome to be surrounded with moms that lift one another up.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I have 20 years of marketing and advertising experience and 15 years of involvement in local philanthropy. I am obsessed with having a purpose and making a difference…it is the foundation of who I am and my business.
