Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabiana Lozano Sanz.
Hi Fabiana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for photography, when I came to U.S. from Venezuela, I purchased my first DSLR camera, that was almost 10 years ago. I went to a school of Arts where I had my first photography classes and I learned so much! I also had a passion for the medical field and I went to college to pursue that career, little did I know my life was about to change three years later at the age of 21. In 2017, I went from studying to become a doctor to being the patient, I was diagnosed with an aggressive case of Multiple Sclerosis. I decided I wanted to help in the MS community as much as I could so I entered a medical trial for my treatment at the time, I still went back to school but my health was interfering with my studies so I had to stop. In the adjustment process, I decided that maybe this was time of pursuing my passion for photography but for me it was so hard to take it as a job because of how much I loved it, that I left it as a hobby. I then got engaged and started working at a medical office when I moved to Orlando from Bradenton where I had lived for the past 7 years. I kept getting sick from being so exposed at the office, then Covid hit and I was a high-risk patient which forced me to leave that job. That was the moment I decided to finally focus on what had always been my passion, photography. I decided to establish my company and start working towards my dream of living off of something I loved and did not interfere with my health. Last year, 2021, I started school to get my certificate as a professional photographer but then I had covid, and being a high-risk patient, it got pretty bad, to the point that I was hospitalized twice and almost lost my life to it but that is a whole other story on its own. That episode in my life only gave me a clearer view of what I wanted and that was in many aspects to pursue that dreamed life I always envisioned which career-wise, was being a successful owner of a company related to my passion as well as getting certified. Many other things in my life changed, but I started working even more in my company and nowadays I am proud to say that I am achieving many of the things I wanted to, I have taken the lead in my health journey, I am about to start classes again and continue to grow in every aspect of my life including my career. It has been a challenging journey but I am excited to see what comes next and all the growth that comes with it
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, beginning with my health it has been a very big challenge including this year where I had an accident related to MS but as challenging as it has been it has also been very rewarding knowing I’m doing what I love and with work and patience I will continue to grow.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer, mostly event photographer which includes weddings, birthdays, and other kind of events (I also do portraits and photograph school events). Asides from finally giving the big step of choosing photography as my career I am most proud of going out of my comfort zone and photographing weddings, I was initially scared of them because of the amount of responsibility that comes with being a wedding photographer but now after doing them for about 3 years I have fallen in love with them, there is just something magical about being a part of such a special day as the day you celebrate love.
What’s next?
I am now working on setting up my own studio, I am also planning on getting my certificate, and overall, just growing as a company as well as a person. I am excited to offer more services and also new items for my wedding packages.
