Daily Inspiration: Meet Farah Elayouty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Farah Elayouty.

Hi Farah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I started, I didn’t have enough knowledge or proper tools for makeup, I used my phone for my pictures and videos to start my platform on Instagram, I was the only supporter for myself, and I knew the only right way to do this is by practicing and accepting failure. In 2018 I won a contest for benefit cosmetics in the middle east, I’ve never hesitated to participate because I wasn’t afraid of failure, but this time I won! I’ve always wanted to add my own touch to my makeup looks as a painter, I would be drawing sketches to figure out how it’s going to look on my face, of course, it was challenging and sometimes it didn’t look good, but the practice is key. I always said to myself nothing can stop me, even after I moved to the US in 2019 which was a big step in my life, I didn’t stop and I always found a way to keep consistent with the simplest tools you can imagine. Practice with passion, consistency, being open to multiple cultures, accepting people from different countries, and always being honest with my audience, I want to make the world a better place through my platform, we might look different but we’re all the same. Empowering women from different backgrounds. For me Everything is possible, and everyone is beautiful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I came from a conservative family, people went against me, just because I showed my face on social media, it was unacceptable for them, it was like exposing myself to the world, nobody believed in me, they always said it was a waste of time, I couldn’t afford to buy makeup or filming tools or even attend any courses related to the makeup world, I’m a mother of 3 girls so you can imagine the number of responsibilities I had, I would stay up all night filming and taking pictures just to let people who judged me know that I can do it myself

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a makeup artist mostly known for creating looks that contain drawing on my face, in some looks I would be showing support for justice movements like Black lives matter and Palestine, Motivating women around the world.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Do not be scared of being yourself, never stop doing what you are passionate about just because someone said they didn’t like what you’re doing, keep educating yourself, keep motivating yourself, do not wait for help, any small action doing what you love is an achievement, remember that success happens in small steps
