Today we’d like to introduce you to Gisela Clemens.
Hi Gisela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello, I’m Gisela, I was born with a very artistic soul, probably from my Peruvian roots as I have been designing all kinds of things my whole life: jewelry, clothes, shoes, bags, and even some furniture for our home. I have also loved painting with oil and acrylics for years as well. Around 10 years ago I began doing beaded jewelry as a hobby and distraction from the house and the kids. As a person who always likes to learn to keep my creative mind busy, I took a metalsmithing course, and I began working with fine silver and some cheap stones, then after a couple of years, I went full with a line of silver jewelry with Swarovski crystals. In 2015 I participated in a Swarovski jewelry contest and won 3rd place with my Universe necklace. I was in Heaven and it was a sweet confirmation that I was on the right path. Sometime after that, I began including semi-precious gemstones in my designs, and later I upgraded to precious stones when I transitioned to gold.
Now I’m very proud to say that I’m working with gold and not only top-quality gemstones but the very rare ones like Alexandrite, Padparadscha Sapphires, Kashmir Sapphires, and Star Rubies, and Paraiba Tourmalines.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, you have to know your priorities very well in order to not get frustrated, as there is always too much to do when you have little kids or other responsibilities. They were my priority then but now that they are older and more independent, I can give my full attention to my jewelry.
Meeting the right people is crucial in any business. Too many scammers who sell fake gemstones out there. I’m thankful to work with wonderful people who help me offer the best products, sourcing the best gemstones possible at a competitive price.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I design gold jewelry using top-quality gemstones and have a good selection of the “rare ones”. I’m very proud of my growing collection of Alexandrite jewelry, as it’s a very rare stone and very few shops offer them. I also work with Padparadscha Sapphires and Paraiba Tourmalines. And my first ring with Kashmir Sapphire is coming out soon.
I do classic designs but I mostly love to design unusual ones, asymmetrical, colorful, and with a meaning or story behind. I mostly do one of a kind because I love creating. Give me a couple of gemstones and I’ll come out with lots of different designs that you can choose from.
What do you think about happiness?
Happiness is a beautiful feeling, and I believe it is a choice, as well as peace, and that both come from within.
In my case, I’m a giver, so making people happy brings me a lot of joy. I like to spoil my loved ones and my customers wouldn’t be an exemption. The look of excitement when they try on their new pieces of jewelry fills my heart with happiness. Long time customers have turned into good friends of mine. And I’m beyond grateful for these experiences.
