Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Richardson.
Hi Hannah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, I am Hannah Marie! I am originally from Cleveland Ohio. I am currently 25 and love to travel, eat, spend time with my family, and Yorkie. My Yorkie’s name is Prince Chicken Nugget. On top of being an educator and social media influencer, I own several businesses such as Glam By Hannah Marie, Hannah Marie The Foodie, and lastly Co-CEO of H&J Thomas Entertainment which is my latest project. H&J Thomas Entertainment is currently coming out with several cards and board games which will be the life of any party, game night, house warming, and every event in-between.
The idea was first developed when my fiancé and I thought about how the pandemic had been affecting people’s social life and what could be done to help make staying at home a little more entertaining. As for Glam By Hannah Marie, I am a licensed Nail Tech, Makeup Artist and, Hairstylist that loves embracing people’s natural glam. Some of my specialties include Press-On Nails, Custom Extensions such as Wigs and Tape-Ins, and of course Full Glam Makeup. I am also on TIKTOk as @the_fav_auntie. I first created a TikTok under a name where my typical audience of people could not find me because I just wanted to make silly videos and not be judged. Little did I know, I would go viral and gain 59.7k followers overnight as well as over 1.2 million views on my videos. This opened up my eyes to the endless amount of ways I can interact with viewers as well as open up doors for more exposure to my small businesses.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
A huge obstacle or challenge I would say is staying relevant. There are so many talented people in the world and more than ever I believe social media has really helped get more people’s talent discovered!
I would also say finances have been a huge challenge. I have so many ideas and things I want to achieve however you defiantly have to have money to invest in those things and I am currently saving for a home, wedding, and paying for my Master’s Degree.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently an Educator at an Elementary school. I grew up in a family with eight siblings. My parents were also foster parents so at a young age I just fell involved with children. I am also a very patient person so I knew I wanted to work with children that have intellectual or cognitive disabilities.
On the flip side, I love everything glam from hair to makeup, to clothing. Immediately after I earned my bachelor’s degree in Education I went to Beauty School to become licensed. I worked in a shop for a little but eventually knew that I wanted to own my own shop and be in control of my own schedule. Then the pandemic hit so I thought what could I do to make beauty services more attainable.
So I started allowing customers to book traveling appointments where I travel to them and make them feel right like they were at the salon! Lastly, I love hosting events for my family and friends as well as taking photos so I create luxury-inspired grass walls for people as well as card games that can be played during game nights.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
From the crisis, I learned that there are so many ways to grow your business and to be consistent in everything you do!
I also learned to just start. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have it all figured out just start somewhere. The best way to do this is to set up a goal or dream, do some research on YouTube and Google, find a mentor or influencer that is doing exactly what you want to do, and learn from them and create your own masterpiece.
Also always remember yours why! If you go into it without passion and just trying to make quick money it most likely will not work out.
