Today we’d like to introduce you to Ilydanny
ilydanny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello. my name is ilydanny, I started making music back in my 8th or freshman year of highschool, but back then it was just a hobby I enjoyed doing once every blue moon. It wasn’t until my junior year when I started taking music seriously. In those years I was making music with my bestfriend at that time, and it was a lot of fun back then my school peers recognized me as the guy who made music and it was a blast. Towards the end of my senior year though a big shift happened in my life, with finding God, my mental problems springing, and unfortunately due to that I lost my friendship with my ex-bestfriend, which led to me to full on quitting music, the months after that were pretty miserable, I was struggling with loneliness, voices in my head, and eventually I did end up making a song again for fun, and it was so fun being able to make a song and share it to one of my online friends who was there for me during those lonely times. I didn’t get back into making music until one day I was on the couch with my mom researching music related things and thinking about me making music and at that moment my head was so quiet and at peace which made me realize this is where I’m supposed to be. I started making music again and I started getting into the mindset of making honest songs about my pure emotions and feelings due to my influence from God, and ever since then that’s been something I value very much in music and that’s honesty. When I was making music I never posted any songs i made and an old friend told me that I was “robbing the world of happiness by keeping my music unreleased”. Then in December 2023 I posted my now unreleased song ‘Obsession’ and after that I started consistently posting. but I was making more music then I was posting, Down the road in my music journey I met a fellow artist by the name of Platinumbluu in a discord call who invited me to join his collective he and his friend founded called ‘Are we cool yet records; (AWCY Records). In the past I never thought or wanted to be in a music collective but for some reason, AWCY Records I wasn’t opposed to, and I’m so very grateful I wasn’t it allowed me to meet musicians who are now my close friends, Platinumbluu, lil Banquet, Zzippix, Narq!, SC3N3BBY, Stoikmxnxdy, wren, 1effren, 4stro. Ever since joining AWCY I’ve been constantly working and improving and I’ve been told a million times by my collective members to drop music, because I tend to hold on to things for a long time, which now I am releasing an album soon in May and I also have been working behind the scenes for a project I’m planning on dropping in the beginning of 2026. Nowadays I’ve been using Tiktok to promote my music, I’ve been consistent with posting and only plan on making better content to reach a larger audience. I have done a couple of shows in Orlando and actually have a show coming up on Feburary 22nd which I’m excited to show off the music I’ve made that strays away from the main rap scene and I hope to get good feedback from that.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not, I feel like back then losing my ex-bestfriend was a huge hit to me, but I realize now it was only a part of the process of me becoming the artist I truly want to be, and even nowadays It’s exhausting juggling working a Job, making music, doing promo, creating branding for my collective, maintaining my relationships, and dealing with real world obstacles. so I often do find myself extremely exhausted but I know there’s nothing I can’t achieve and I know nothing can set me back. I have God on my side and I know whatever he puts me through I can get past.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer/songwriter, or a musician, I think what sets me apart is my ability to pour my heart and soul out on a song, and for it to be completely authentic to me, which allows listeners to truly be able to dive into my world simply by putting on my music, and I think that is also what sets me apart from others, because I feel like the current underground of music is so populated with rappers / artists trying so hard to be someone else that they aren’t like you got people talking about killing people, hitting licks and whatnot and they never seen a day in that type of environment. My advice for someone trying to make it in music is to be completely yourself, your best work is gonna come from your soul and yes you proabably can get a little poppin with that fake gangster rap, but I promise if you make music from your soul, you will be making timeless music and you’ll last forever, if you don’t believe me ask God, he says “A lie has a short life, but truth lives on forever” so take that as you will.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Honestly find like minded people, go to places wether in person or online where you are surrounded by the music or whatever scene you are working in and expand through there, show people your work, reach out to anyone and everyone you can that can potentially further yourself in what you do. I mean I’m not one to talk right now, I’m only getting started on this PR stuff, but just try to put yourself out there as much as possible study those who have been doing this for a while. make note of what they do.
