Today we’d like to introduce you to Indira Sohan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Simply put, I’m just a girl who loves crafts, flowers and all things pretty. I would say my floral and event design interest started through planning my own wedding in 2020. I saw the need for high quality faux floral design that would allow brides to achieve their floral dreams without having to settle for costly fresh florals or cheap silk alternatives. I started researching faux florals, the different types and how they can be used. I fell in love with it all. I slowly started to incorporate other aspects of event design such as candles, installations, linens etc to bring the visions I had in my head to life. I’ve had the opportunity to meet, work with, and learn from some of the most inspiring floral and event designers such as Sarah with Intrigue Designs, Jennifer Bernal from House of Bernal, TwinFlora and Moments and Memories all the way from Australia.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. There has been lots of bumps in the road, learning lessons and confidence breaking moments. There are many concepts that go into event design that have you wearing different hats everyday. One day you have to be a carpenter, building props and structures. Then the next, being an artist and hand-painting flowers to achieve the right shade. The key is to have the determination to overcome any obstacle that stands between you and achieving your dreams. I have learned to use every failure as a learning opportunity, and no matter how much you may think you know, there is always room for improvement and learning.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Although I do overall event design, I would say my speciality is faux florals and it is definitely what I am known for. I specialize in creating lifelike designs with the most realistic faux florals. I am proud of the creative concepts I am able to achieve and to be able to make bride’s floral dreams come true within a budget that they didn’t think would be possible.
How do you think about happiness?
Understanding someone’s vision, contributing beautiful aspects to the most precious moments in their life, and overall being able to bring happiness to others is what truly makes me happy. I started my business because it is something I love to do. I try to do whatever I can with my business/platform to give back to others and bring happiness into their lives. I am the type of vendor that will go the extra mile, spend 30 extra minutes adding an additional floral arrangement or placing 15 extra candles to make a difference, and to make sure my clients are happy.
