Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaimie Roberts.
Jaimie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was a performer at Disney for 33 years and when Covid hit, I was laid off. I was getting very depressed and started baking to keep myself busy. It turned into a thing, and now I have been baking as a side hustle. Over the holidays, I made thousands of hot chocolate bombs, and it brings me joy to create cakes and cupcakes for everyone’s special occasions.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The struggles are that I am not a trained culinary artist. Everything I’ve learned I have learned off of YouTube. Trial and error have been everything to me. I’ve learned a lot, and have come along way. I’m not legally allowed to ship or use alcohol in any of my creations since I am not a commercial kitchen.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I think the biggest hit was when I did hot chocolate bombs at Christmas time. It went nuts. I literally pulled four all nighters and made thousands of hot chocolate Bombs. Now I am mostly doing cakes and cupcakes.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
That I don’t give up. I am always reinventing and re-creating myself in order to follow my passion and maintain some sort of creativity in my life. No matter what it takes, I will do my best to make it happen. And I am also proud to say that if something is beyond my range of abilities, I will admit that and pass the client on to someone who is better qualified for what they are exactly looking for.
