Daily Inspiration: Meet Janioris Diaz Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janioris Diaz Rodriguez.

Hi Janioris, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been doing photography since the darkroom days of a high school elective class. That was almost two decades ago when printing a black and white photograph meant capturing it with film, smelling toner and developer for hours, dodging and burning with your hands until the balance was just right and you walked out of the red-lit room to discover whether the image was everything you hoped it would be. I have since been a part of collecting memories of wedding days, Christmases, family legacies, and couples in love.

But when I was planning my wedding in 2017, I looked for a boudoir photographer to help me with a sexy surprise for my future husband. I wanted to be in the confident frame of mind I needed to tap into my sensual self for our long-awaited honeymoon. But the women whose values I aligned with did not match my style, and the photographers that I loved just didn’t have messaging I believed in. I wanted to be photographed by someone who believed in marriage and partnership in the home, without fear that it was downplaying their value or power as women. I wanted the celebration of femininity without the tearing down of masculinity.

So, I became what I needed: an advocate for body and bedroom confidence for the Christian woman through photography and education.

Now, I don’t just offer boudoir photography and run an online community, but I have been privileged to be invited to shatter taboos and have these intimate conversations in conferences, panels, and workshops in my community and beyond.

Before I started my career as a Boudoir Photographer, I studied Psychology. I learned so much during that time that influenced the person I get to be when someone comes for an Intimate Feminine Portraiture Experience. I am constantly reminded that what I offer is not just photographs. And while I’m not a professional counselor or therapist, I do the very best I can to be a listening ear, help women journey away from their insecurities, and find the part of them that they thought was not there or they neglected for too long.

I have met some incredible women throughout these years that have worked through some difficult mental blocks, survived unimaginable relationship hurdles, and gotten back up from gut-wrenching attacks on their families, bodies, and hearts. As incredible as their bodies are, that’s the least amazing thing about them. As a recovering perfectionist, I know what it’s like to look at yourself through an unattainable lens in all your facets. So, my favorite thing about what I do is helping women see themselves perfectly through their imperfections. I have seen first-hand what the impact of this experience can have on women’s self-concept as a masterpiece, on the depth of their intimacy in marriage, or on the strength of their motherhood.

I hold space for women to be a masterpiece and work-in-progress at the same time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe that sexuality and sensuality are gifts from God that should be stewarded healthily and not simply forbidden and forsaken. Still, some women in conservative circles find it provoking, even alarming, that I “take sexy pictures” of women. But this is exactly why I must persist to do what I do. I don’t just “take sexy photos”. I am in the business of the celebration of our God-given sensuality. As women become more confident with their femininity, they’re able to foster better relationships, especially those which require vulnerable intimacy. People who don’t understand what I do also don’t understand that lack of intimacy is partly responsible for the breakdown of marriages, even marriages inside the church. I’m prepared to stand in this niche despite the pushback because Christian girls are sexy too. And because I’ve seen the impact it makes on the women I serve. (Christian or not)

I face my fears of judgment so they can face their fears around sexual intimacy.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For four years I have been blessed to marry my passion for thriving marriages, femininity according to God’s design, and the reconciliation of women with their physical bodies as a way to strengthen their commitment to themselves and their most intimate relationships with others.

I specialize in Intimate Feminine Portraiture Experiences for women.

I am known for providing a safe space for conservative wives to celebrate their femininity and explore their sensuality.

I am most proud of the women I have served that have become more confident with their femininity so they’re better able to enjoy the freedom of their most intimate relationships.

What sets me apart is that I offer more than just beautiful photographs. I aim to educate and encourage women to thrive in all their facets, stepping into vulnerable conversations and intimate topics in a relatable and respectful way. A fun, confidence-boosting experience, incredible images, stellar artwork, and at times hubby’s jaw-dropping———those are just the cherry on top.
