Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason “Ra$ha” Lewis.
Hi Ra$ha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Rasha, a recording artist, producer, and audio engineer originally from Huntsville, Alabama and now based in Orlando, Florida. Music has always been more than just something I wanted to do—it’s been one of the main ways I’ve learned to understand myself and the world around me.
My journey really began through my love for creating. I pursued Recording Arts at Full Sail University, where I was able to develop my skills as an artist, producer, and engineer. Over time, I realized that I didn’t just want to make songs—I wanted to create worlds, experiences, and stories that people could see themselves in.
My music is rooted in R&B and soul, but I’m heavily inspired by cinematic storytelling, honest songwriting, and the idea that music can help people reflect, heal, and grow. A lot of my work explores love, identity, nostalgia, faith, difficult choices, and the process of becoming a better version of yourself.
Today, I’m continuing to build my career independently while creating larger creative projects that combine music, film, visual storytelling, and live experiences. My most recent project, Kenopsia, represents a major step in that journey because it allowed me to build an entire world around the music and bring together other creatives to help turn that vision into something real.
I’m still growing and figuring things out, but I think that’s a big part of my story. I’ve learned that success isn’t always about having everything figured out—it’s about continuing to create, take risks, trust the process, and stay true to who you are. My goal is to continue building a career and creative community that encourages people to think, feel, heal, and believe in their own ability to create something meaningful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to believe in myself and my vision, especially as an independent artist. When you’re building something from the ground up, there are a lot of moments where you question whether you’re making the right decisions or whether the work you’re putting in will ever reach the people it’s meant for.
I’ve also had to learn how to wear many different hats. I’m not just an artist—I produce, engineer, create content, develop visuals, and help bring larger creative ideas to life. While that has helped me become more versatile, it can also be challenging because there isn’t always a clear roadmap, and sometimes you have to figure things out through trial and error.
Another challenge has been building independently with limited resources. There have been times when I’ve had big ideas but had to learn how to make the most of what I had, whether that meant learning new skills myself, taking more time to develop something, or finding creative people who believed in the vision enough to help bring it to life.
I think one of my biggest lessons has been learning that growth doesn’t always look like immediate success. Sometimes you’re working for a long time before you can actually see the results. There have been moments of doubt, frustration, and feeling like I wasn’t moving fast enough, but those moments have taught me patience and persistence.
Looking back, I’m grateful for the challenges because they’ve helped shape me into a more confident artist and creator. They’ve taught me to trust the process, continue learning, and keep creating even when I don’t have all the answers.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a multidisciplinary artist and creative working across music, production, engineering, visual storytelling, and creative direction. At the core, I’m a recording artist and producer, using R&B and soulful, cinematic textures to explore themes of healing, relationships, faith, self-reflection, and personal growth. I see each project as more than just music—I aim to build a world around it through visuals, storytelling, film, and immersive experiences that allow people to connect with the art on a deeper level.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without the people who have believed in me, inspired me, and helped me grow as an artist and producer. Artists and collaborators like Flozigg and producer T33 have played a role in my creative growth and development. Ryan Trey has guided and inspired me to be more intentional about my music and the purpose behind what I create, while Patrick “Stafford” has helped me think more strategically about my content and how I present my work.
Kenneth Rosa, also known as Gvilty, has been a major creative collaborator and filmmaker who has helped bring many of my artistic visions to life. My cousins in Cruza also inspired me to chase my dreams and pursue music seriously. As my journey has grown beyond being just an artist, Melissa Seals trusted me with the opportunity to help compose and create the soundtrack for her video game, which allowed me to further expand my skills as a producer and composer.
Beyond everyone I’ve named, I’m incredibly grateful for my family, friends, collaborators, and supporters who have continued to believe in me and my vision.
