Today we’d like to introduce you to JERRY WHITE.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At the core, I’m someone who’s been called not just to create but to build something that lasts.
Honestly, my journey didn’t start with cameras or business. It started with faith, survival, and the tension of knowing I was created for more. I grew up with a single mom who made sacrifices that taught me the power of movement with purpose. Watching her take leaps for our family planted something in me early: if you’re willing to move forward, even when it’s hard, Yah will meet you.
For a while, I thought football was my path. I loved sports. I thrived in leadership roles, and I was all in. But during college, things shifted. I chose not to walk on and instead found myself drawn to the camera, to storytelling, to building something that spoke to people. I didn’t come from much, but I had vision, and I started creating with whatever I had in my hands. That’s how JD Productions was born.
But this journey hasn’t just been about creativity. It’s been about freedom, spiritual, financial, and creative. I’ve worked jobs that didn’t align with my soul. I’ve felt boxed in by systems that weren’t built for people like me. I’ve walked through heavy seasons mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. But I kept building. I kept creating. I kept trusting that everything I was going through was shaping me for what I’m called to.
Now, I lead JD Productions, a creative company rooted in media, entertainment, and purpose-driven storytelling. But more than anything, I’m committed to helping people break out of survival mode and align with the life Yah actually designed for them. Whether that’s through film, content, conversation, or leadership, I believe every gift I have is meant to help others live free and fully sent.
I’m not here to make noise. I’m here to build something that lasts.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. If I’m being real, the road’s been anything but smooth. Money’s been one of the biggest hurdles, from funding projects to just surviving while trying to build something meaningful. For a long time, I didn’t have a team or anyone to help carry the weight. No one to believe in the vision but me. It’s hard showing up for a dream every day when it feels like no one sees it but you.
I’ve been overlooked, underestimated, and honestly, I’ve struggled with knowing myself. Confidence didn’t come easy. I’ve dealt with heartbreak, self-sabotage, and moments where the discouragement was so heavy I didn’t even want to keep going. And when you add in the weight of being a Black man in America—already behind in the race because of the system we were born into—it just adds another layer to the fight.
But one of my biggest personal struggles has been keeping God first through it all. Not just trusting in Him, but staying rooted, keeping my heart and my decisions aligned with His Word. It’s easy to drift when life hits hard, and staying grounded in faith while trying to build a business and survive the storm has been its own battle.
But those struggles also built me. They taught me how to lean on God when I couldn’t lean on anything else. They made me more intentional, more self-aware, and more committed to not just building something for me, but for everybody who feels like they were counted out too.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I don’t really fit into one lane. I’m not just a filmmaker, producer, or creative, I’m a visionary who sees the world through multiple dimensions. What I do is rooted in purpose. I build things that are meaningful, that free people, and that reflect the Kingdom I belong to.
Right now, I lead JD Productions, a creative powerhouse that tells stories through video, strategy, design, and digital media. But that’s just one layer. I’m also building and structuring businesses that serve people spiritually, creatively, and practically.
I go deep in thought, in heart, in conversation, and that depth shows up in everything I create. Whether it’s helping someone feel seen through a video, or speaking life into someone through a devotional or message, I move through this world with intention.
What I’m most proud of is that I stayed the course. Through heartbreak, hardship, and seasons of invisibility, I didn’t fold. I kept building. Kept becoming. And now I’m walking in what I was born to do.
What sets me apart? I’m not chasing a brand, I’m carrying a blueprint. And every space I step into is an opportunity to reflect that.
What makes you happy?
Honestly, I’m still learning what makes me happy, and that’s part of the journey. But if I had to answer right now, I’d say it’s the simple things: moments with my family, watching animals just be themselves, being out in nature, seeing something beautiful that doesn’t need to be explained.
That kind of peace reminds me of Yah and what really matters.
Creatively, I come alive when I get to build. When I can make something from nothing, a story, a video, a brand, or an idea, and actually bring it to life, that gives me a sense of freedom.
And that’s probably the real answer: freedom. The freedom to think, create, move, travel, and experience life in a way that feels aligned and full.
