Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessica Hendricks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Hendricks.

Jessica Hendricks

Hi Jessica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was always passionate about capturing moments from a young age (thanks to my mom!). In high school, I always had my camera out and created the slideshows at the end of every year. When I went to college, I dabbled in film photography and learned to develop my photos in a dark room. Fast forward, I moved to Florida in 2008 and would pick up my camera here and there, but it wasn’t until 2020, when COVID shut the world down, that I decided to pick up my camera again. Now, 4 years later, I own my own business and am more in love with photography than ever!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I work a full-time job that demands 50-60 hours of my time, and then I have to find time to go out shooting and editing in a timely fashion. Not to mention, I have time for my relationships, family, friends, and other hobbies! Who needs sleep? I love this job, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in headshots and engagement sessions as my favorite things to capture, but I have grown to events, weddings, boudoirs, and more! As a theatre nerd, being able to photograph shows is also one of my favorite things to do! I am most proud of the work I produce for my clients. I love receiving their reaction. I’m known for getting to a shoot and knowing that 1 person might not love taking photos or is too self-conscious of themselves. The biggest compliment I can get is, “I never like myself in photos, and I love the ones you took!” Or when the one that didn’t want to smile for me is suddenly coming up with ideas or poses on their own to do!
