Today we’d like to introduce you to Jomyra Mercado.
Hi Jomyra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My story begins with me wanting to become a successful Barber. I went and started school in May of 2021 and it took me about a year to graduate barber school from Florida Technical College Kissimmee. I am now working at villas barber shop in East Orlando I love what I do. I have always wanted to become a master Barber which means I can use chemical treatment on hair not only can I cut. I got to where I am today by progression by ambition and by staying loyal to my studies and wanting to become a master barber. I’m still enrolled in college to get a bachelor’s degree in business because my dream is to become a successful business owner and influencer and educator and an entrepreneur to the max.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it has not been a smooth ride it takes time and dedication. It takes you having to get up every day going to school doing your Labs doing your quizzes doing your work studying. Putting in the work is the best thing you can do to succeed. By all means, it is not easy nothing is easy nothing’s given in this world. You have to work hard for what you want and you have to overcome those challenges to get to where you want to go.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Well, I am a master Barber and I specialize in haircuts beards eyebrows fade blowouts. I’m known for being really good at tapers meaning a fade on the sides of fade on the back of the neck. I’m most proud of myself for graduating barber school with honors. And I am most definitely proud of getting an alumni scholarship to help me and my bachelor’s degree for business administration. What sets me apart from others as the fact that I have what it takes. I know that if I set my mind to it and I go for it, I achieve it. I am very ambitious I have a lot of dreams and I make those dreams come true. A lot of what I have accomplished is because I have set my mind to it, I have put time aside to make room for my achievements.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Honestly, I use a lot of YouTube videos to help me learn more techniques. You too has helped me a lot I look at a lot of videos I look at other Barbers’ platforms I study a lot I read a lot. Going back to school give me the opportunity to learn more knowledge.
