Daily Inspiration: Meet Joreim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joreim.

Hi Joreim, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Since I can remember, I’ve always done my own thing. I remember at a young age observing people and questioning why so many operate in certain ways. Everyday life seemed mechanical to me early on. I think feeling that way made the opposite really stand out and made me want to do something different.

I think that mentality is what eventually made me an artist. I even drew for a lot of years before I started making music. My grandfather gave me his guitar randomly one day and it changed everything.

That guitar really set something off. I started learning instruments, making beats, writing raps, singing, and mixing music. If I think back nothing else really mattered, I’d get lost in learning. Production and songwriting just really clicked with me. I felt I had a kind of new world at my fingertips.

Back then, I struggled from job to job because my heart was never in anything that wasn’t creative. Through all the ups and downs, I never stopped sharpening my skill. It’s the one thing I feel doesn’t change. Tapping into that part of me is my purpose.

My music can be about a lot of things but overall, I feel It represents self-belief, self-mastery, resilience, determination, and growth. I want people to hear my songs and believe in their own ability. I want my story to remind them to tap into their own unique potential, what ever it is. We’re all just reaching a higher power when we focus on whatever drives us or leads us from the inside.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Time, money, love, relationships, marriage, fatherhood. I struggled to balance it all especially a marriage. The guilt of never having time for all of them. A struggle that made me resentful, angry, ashamed, all the things that cloud that connection to yourself which is ultimately unhappiness. The pursuit of perfection which poisons everything; A belief in something that isn’t real.

I’ve been my own biggest obstacle the entire time. My eyes are wide open now and now I feel like I have to help others do the same. I don’t believe the artist has to suffer. People are usually just victims of their own self, buried under their own weight and lack of understanding. Now that I feel I dug myself out, I feel my purpose is to free minds the way I freed my own and I can do it by just following my own light.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a recording artist and music producer. I specialize in hip hop but have a really wide taste in music like soul, EDM, psychedelic, r and b, and pop.

I consider myself alternative hip hop.

I’m most proud of my vocals/tone and instrumentals. I think I have a good ear.

I think what sets me apart is that I do so much myself like recording, mixing, writing, producing, playing instruments.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I never had a mentor but it’s actually really simple: be yourself! Being yourself will always lead you where you’re meant to be and connect you to the people you’re meant to connect with. Authenticity will bring anyone what they’re meant to have.
