Today we’d like to introduce you to Joselyn Concepcion
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Joselyn Concepcion.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Seventeen years ago my family and I moved to Florida. I am a mother of four and a happy grandmother of one boy and another on the way.
In 2012 after working in a different field I noticed my interest and passion for children. The same year with the influence of wonderful people and the support of my family, I started my teaching career as a Montessori Teacher for pre-school, pre-k and Kindergarten.
For over 12 years I experienced the warmth of working in a classroom. Last year I decided to continue my passion for teaching by starting my own business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not, one of the biggest obstacles I faced
in my business career so far has been transitioning from a full time job to becoming my own boss. Building up the confidence to market my services and getting the word out was very hard at first.
As someone who was used to working in the background, having to promote myself, my business, and the value of the services I offer was intimidating.
I had to push myself to learn new skills in marketing and social media, and it takes time to find the right strategies that would resonate with the parents and families I want to serve.
There is a lot of trial and error in the process. But over time I have been learning how to embrace the challenge, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see how my effort has starting to pay off as more families find value in what we offer in Learning with JoY.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our services are for children from the age of
5-12 years old, which includes:
1:1 tutoring:
With our one-on-one sessions we help our children in need to reinforce academic foundational skills, address knowledge gaps, regain confidence, and rediscover love of learning.
Spanish classes:
Spanish is currently the second most popular language in the world, as well as being the second most commonly spoken language in the US.
In LwJ we offer an environment that fosters a love for the language throughout educational activities, basic conversation, vocabulary skill, music and more. We ensure to equip our children with bilingual skills for their future endeavors.
kindergarten prep:
We provide a comprehensive service to prepare children for what they need to know to transition into kindergarten. This includes individualized sessions for skill development in: literacy, numeracy, motor skills and emotional learning.
Break camps:
For a small groups of children we offer winter, spring, summer break, back to school and Spanish Camp.
Homeschooling:
Montessori or Traditional learning for any child that will benefit of a one-on-one and a different learning environment.

In Learning with Joy our mission is to provide quality educational services to children in need of a supportive and individualized learning environment. We are dedicated on create a nurturing environment founded on kindness and respect, ensuring that each child feels confident and engaged in their learning journey.
The trust and connection that we had established with the families since we open has been and will continue to be our proudest accomplishment.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I will say that I learned so much from Maria Montessori philosophy and that has been one of my biggest inspiration throughout my journey as a teacher and now as a business owner. Her educational philosophy, which emphasizes child-centered learning, independence, and the importance of nurturing each child’s natural curiosity, compares deeply with how I approach the services of my business.
Her belief that education should be tailored to each child’s individual needs and pace is something I strive to implement in all of our services.
For personal growth I enjoy listening to podcasts. My favorite is Steven Furtick.
