Daily Inspiration: Meet Julian (Hedge) Cervantes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian (Hedge) Cervantes

Hi Julian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started going to edm festivals in 2019 and fell in love with the music within 2 festivals. by the third I knew I wanted to make music. I started with Tech House and made my way to minimal house music inspired by artists like PAWSA, Michael Bibi, Sosa, etc.. During Covid I would stream on twitch and Wax Motif found my stream and supported me by posting me on his Instagram and twitter which sort of launched my name and got people to notice me. I started producing in 2021/2022 and got lessons from artists like Schade, Ranger Trucco, and Luke Andy to name a few. Since then I’ve been supported by artists like Illario Alicante, Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Sosa, and others. My music has been played at festivals like Elrow Barcelona, Solid Grooves Motel, and historic party clubs like Pacha Ibiza, Hi Ibiza, Printworks London, and Space Miami to name a few.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think it’s been a smooth road because it took a lot of work to get to where I am right now and I want to keep continuing. This road for me and im sure for others may seem like a walk in the park but it’s a lot of late nights both when networking and putting in the hours to learn music production and DJ’s. If anything the biggest struggle I’ve had is balancing my personal life and doing music. It’s hard going out 3 times a week to network getting home at 4am and then working your 9-5 to fund that dream.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I do is not only produce music and DJ but run my own record label and I love doing that. It’s a platform for me to release music and not have to worry about the approval of a record label. I can make what I want and release what I love no matter what other people think. I’ve also turned it into a platform for artists to send music and release if I like the track, Doesn’t matter how many followers they have or if they’re huge or just starting, if the music is good I’ll get it on the label. GOODBEATS RECORDS. @goodbeats.us on IG. What I’m most proud of is when people play my music or even tell me they listen. Im proud to be putting music out into this world that people take the time to listen to, it means the world especially when I feel like I’m not that much of an artist. I think what sets me apart from others on stage is my energy and music selection, I’ve been told I excel at that by people in the industry and I love it because I really do leave it all out there when Im performing. What sets me apart in production would be the way I blend tech house elements with minimal deep tech elements and bass lines, i love it so i hope others do too. The last thing I think that sets me apart is I don’t have a gimmick or try to be someone I’m not.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned so far is too enjoy where you are in your journey right now and be proud of what you’ve accomplished. Past you would be very proud of where you are right now. We focus so much on what’s next and where we want to be in a year that we forget to enjoy where we are now.
