Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Harris.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I always dabbled with graphic design for fun & for friends in need of flyers, logos & t-shirt designs. When the pandemic hit, my wife encourage me to follow that old dream and really dive into the field. I found the extra time and enrolled in the New York Institute of Art & Design for Graphic Design. I began taking on local logo projects and found myself not having enough time to balance out the workload and my normal day-to-day. I started to realize, maybe I have something serious here and make a career out of something I always loved to do. Isn’t that the dream? Moving forward, I realized the bigger picture beyond logos was in brand design. Once I learned more about branding, my mind was blown. I was fascinated in how a business could take their idea to a designer, leading to a recognizable service or product that was visible for the whole world to see. There was no turning back, once I was able to witness passionate entrepreneurs see their visions come to life through my designs.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a freelance designer can be challenging. With trends and technology always changing, you never stop learning and growing. Owning your own business is scary and exciting all at the same time. Graphic design is a very competitive field – there are so many great creators everywhere you look. But when you love what you do, have uplifting supporters, and God by your side, you can be ready for any challenge ahead.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a logo and brand designer for all types of businesses & entrepreneurs. I have designed for ice cream companies, therapists, auto shops, realtors, tax professionals, Veteran Affairs, and more. I like to set myself apart from other designers, by offering a smooth and seamless service all while delivering modern, clean designs that stand out. Helping excited business owners see their ideas come to life through my design is what drives me. Good design means good business, which can ultimately change lives and families of the clients that I help.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in upstate New York before moving to Orlando, I found my creativity in drawing. Whether it was comic books heroes or my favorite athletes, or notebook graffiti, I was always had a pencil or marker ready. I am naturally an introvert, which is maybe why I kept my head in the sketch pad rather than being outgoing. As I grew older, digital art and design become more popular and piqued my interest.
