Hi Karla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Karla Velásquez, and I am a beauty entrepreneur and eyebrow specialist with more than a decade of experience in the beauty industry. My journey began with a passion for makeup artistry and facial aesthetics, particularly the transformative power of eyebrow design.
Early in my career, I realized that eyebrows are not simply a beauty detail—they frame the face, restore confidence, and can significantly impact how a person feels about themselves. This realization pushed me to specialize deeply in eyebrow artistry and permanent makeup techniques.
Over the years, I have dedicated myself to studying, practicing, and perfecting advanced techniques in eyebrow design, micropigmentation, powder brows, and corrective brow work. Through this process, I developed my own professional approach focused on achieving natural, elegant, and long-lasting results that enhance each client’s unique facial structure.
As my work gained recognition, I began expanding my role beyond performing services to also educating and mentoring other artists. This led to the creation of training programs and events such as the Brown Experience, where I share my techniques, knowledge, and professional insights with beauty specialists who want to elevate their careers in the industry.
Today, my work extends beyond individual services. I focus on education, innovation in eyebrow techniques, and the development of new projects that support the growth of beauty professionals. My mission is to elevate the standards of the brow industry while empowering other artists with the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to succeed.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The path has not always been easy. Like many entrepreneurs in the beauty industry, I have faced different challenges while building my career.
One of the biggest challenges has been establishing myself in a highly competitive industry where constant innovation, continuous learning, and technical improvement are essential. In the beginning, I faced the typical struggles of any entrepreneur: building a client base, earning trust in the market, and proving the value of my work in an industry where talent often needs time and consistency to be recognized.
However, some of the most profound challenges in my life have been personal. Along my journey, I experienced the loss of very important loved ones, including my mother and some of my siblings in Venezuela, facing these moments from a distance. Going through grief while being far from your home country and family is an experience that deeply marks a person and tests your emotional strength.
Despite these hardships, those experiences taught me resilience, purpose, and the importance of continuing forward even during difficult times. Instead of allowing these moments to stop me, I chose to transform that pain into motivation to work harder, grow professionally, and honor the memory of my loved ones through dedication and perseverance.
Additionally, as a Latina woman building my career in an international environment, I have also had to overcome cultural, economic, and professional barriers to position my name and my work within the beauty industry.
Today, I see every obstacle as a fundamental part of my story. Each challenge pushed me to continue learning, refining my techniques, and creating projects that not only impact my own career but also inspire and support other professionals in the beauty industry.

My work focuses on the art of eyebrow design and micropigmentation, a field where aesthetics, precision, and creativity come together to create natural results that enhance each person’s facial harmony. Over the years, I have specialized in advanced eyebrow design and semi-permanent makeup techniques, with a particular focus on creating soft, natural-looking results that respect each client’s unique facial structure.
With more than ten years of experience in the beauty industry, I have dedicated much of my career to perfecting techniques such as Powder Brows and other micropigmentation methods that aim to create elegant, long-lasting, and personalized results.
Beyond working with clients, I have also focused on education and mentorship within the beauty industry. One of the things I am most proud of is creating learning opportunities for other artists through projects such as Brown Experience, where I share my knowledge, techniques, and professional experience with beauty specialists who want to elevate their skills and careers.
What sets my work apart is the combination of an artistic approach with a strong commitment to education. My goal is not only to create high-quality aesthetic results but also to contribute to the growth of the industry by helping train and inspire new professionals while promoting higher standards in the art of eyebrow design.
For me, this profession goes beyond beauty. It is about helping people regain confidence, enhance their natural features, and feel empowered through the transformation that well-designed eyebrows can create.
What does success mean to you?
For me, success is not defined only by professional achievements or recognition, but by the impact we can have on the lives of others. True success is being able to use your talent, passion, and experience to build something meaningful while also inspiring others to grow.
In my work, success is reflected when I see the confidence that a person can regain through an aesthetic transformation like eyebrow design. But I also see success in something much deeper. During my classes, when I share my story, I often see women become emotional or even cry because they feel deeply identified with my journey. Many of them arrive believing their dreams are too difficult to achieve, and when they hear my story, they realize they are not alone and that even though the path is never easy, it is still possible to reach your goals.
Those moments are very meaningful to me because they remind me that I was once on the other side as well full of doubts, fears, and challenges. That is why I believe success is not only about personal achievement, but also about opening doors and showing others that their dreams are possible.
I also believe that success is deeply connected to resilience. Throughout my life I have faced both personal and professional challenges that taught me how to keep moving forward even in difficult times. Every experience has helped shape my vision and strengthen my purpose.
Today, I define success as the ability to continue evolving as an artist, educator, and entrepreneur while contributing to the growth of the beauty industry and creating opportunities for others to believe in themselves, develop their talent, and reach their full potential.
