Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendalyn Emerald.
Hi Kendalyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I have always had a burning passion for modeling since I was a young girl. I started trying to get into modeling in 2020, & finally got accepted into MTM in September of 2021! I was actually at a music festival when I got the news. I then took 32 weeks of modeling & acting classes & got accepted into a California trip to audition for 13 agents in Los Angeles! I got to stay at the W Hollywood hotel in the middle of Hollywood, & the experience was amazing. There, I signed with my second agency, Manikin. They helped me book my first acting job for a short film called Toki. After some searching & putting myself out there, I was wanted by Stars Talent Studio based out of Utah. When I was accepted, I took 10 weeks of online modeling classes, & did my first runway show in North Carolina: The Oak City Showcase. The people I met here were amazing & so kind, & I learned quickly that I truly loved the atmosphere of fashion shows. After several months of traveling for photoshoots, I booked a spot in the 2022 Model Magazine Orlando Fashion Parade. That weekend was UNREAL!!! I was so much fun & I loved everything about it. There I spoke to many people signed with a specific non-exclusive agency, so I decided to audition for them (Avanti) as well. Although they are picky with their spots, I got accepted! I will soon be traveling to North Carolina for NCFW & the annual Avanti Showcase to audition for many HUGE agents, & I hope to continue my journey & become more successful after.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. Since I live in Ohio, I am doing lots of traveling which costs money. I actually got an “offer” to model for Under Armour & got scammed out of $2000 that I cannot get back. Since then, I’ve been very skeptical. But nothing too difficult has come in the way of my journey yet, & I hope it stays this way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a model & actress. I am most proud of my independent mindset & my determination. I am set apart from others because I want to pursue this career in my future. & I will not ever give it up!
We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
I believe risk-taking is necessary when it comes to the fashion world. I have taken many major risks to get where I am today such as trying things I’ve never done before, getting scammed, & traveling long distances for things I was not completely sure of. I think risk-taking is crucial to living a fulfilled life. Without risks, you play your entire life safe, & where’s the fun in that?
