Daily Inspiration: Meet Kiaya Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiaya Love

Hi Kiaya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Kiaya also known as, Kiayalove. I was born in Orlando, FL while my mother is from Ohio and my father from Thailand. I’ve always been told I have a unique look, I love to read and write and I consider myself to be an artist. I love music and painting. Since the start of instagram I’ve always found a way to captivate my viewers and spread love across fields at an early age. Using my platform to entertain with dancing and writing poems (and reciting them as raps) while connecting with others around the world with similar interest. I grew up in a full house hold with 3 siblings and both parents up until I was 10/11 years old. My parents divorced and it took an extreme toll on me. Exposing my emotional flaws and trouble comprehending tragedy, I struggled in my teenage years, throughout high school with my identity and purpose in life. I was always extremely smart and disciplined, if I got anything other than an “A” I would feel like I wasn’t doing my best.

Moving on to graduation, my last year in high school was rough. I went from dual enrollment the first 2 quarters to almost not graduating due to the ongoing struggle with my mental health. My mom and I had many troubles with finding the right treatment and care for how I was expressing my emotions. I was kicked out my senior year which led to me almost giving up completely but thankfully I had great and supportive counselors on my side that helped me to graduate on time in 2019 [Lake Howell HS]. After High School, I ended up in a very abusive relationship that lasted 4 years.

Once I broke free from the toxicity that was surrounding me I went to school to be an esthetician when I was 21 years old. I liked make up and skincare, leading to me pursuing Esthiology as a career but it wasn’t my passion. I continued to work on myself and manage my emotions in a healthier way to be able to maintain my stability as an adult. I ended up going through a very traumatic experience dealing with being held up by someone outside my home with a weapon (gun). It was frightening and I only escaped by using my wit and my words.

This experience led me to reevaluating my journey and seeing where I could be more cautious. I decided what I truly wanted in life after this experience because it madame realize what I truly wanted if the world was to end tomorrow. That is my art. The year of 2024 has been extremely blessed compared to everything I’ve been through from a child to now. I am not 23 years old, a student withe a 4.0 at Full Sail University, pursing a music business career. I also sell my art and have worked closely with other music and film professional. I learned how to work camera and discovered my immense ability to capture beautiful behind the scenes moments and I have also been in the studio working alongside artist as well as creating my own crafts.

I am extremely grateful for everything I’ve been through even though it hasn’t been anything close to easy. I appreciate how strong, aware, sensitive, and obedient my struggles have made me. I am so proud to say I still love graciously through all the turmoil and there’s more that I didn’t mention but the importance of my life story is to never give up. Never try to dictate whether you live or pass. Trust in God, be patient, explore, and most importantly love through it all.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some struggles that I’ve dealt with as an Artist is life and creativity. Life has dealt some very hard and extreme cards but they’ve helped shape me into the strong and confident woman I am today. From watching my parents argue and fist fight as a child, screaming in the corner, begging them to stop – from the trauma cause by the turmoil in my home and the toll it took on everyone involved – to high school, and dealing with growing up and being kicked out at an early age, forcing me to grow up – to standing up for myself, truly learning what I want and what’s my purpose, and being grateful for every breath that I take. People take life for granted and become greedy but when you come from nothing but heartbreak and the struggle, you learn to appreciate this world way more. What I do is to give back and show other kids like me that you can be intelligent, creative, beautiful, and also broke while still being loving and caring to this cruel world.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist. I have done a few murals Downtown Orlando. I am a party goer but I’m also out spoken and a great networker. I met Skip downtown one night after hanging out with some friends in the area and asked where could I apply. I followed up and got my first gig painting. It was an amazing experience and Skip and I still continue to keep in touch. I am in love with music. I listen to and write music everyday. Starting with poems, the clarinet, the piano, and singing in church to booking studio time, working closely with studio owners, and contributing my creative and professional ideas. I sell my art work, while I am in school right now. I work closely with many studio owners/managers learning more about the music business. My goals and aspirations is make a change through my art and love. I have a business opening up soon. You can keep up with those updates through my social media @kiayalove & @lovemusicbiz. I plan to help other artists share their talents without being exploited or taken advantage of. I want to give others a voice and show them my confidence on how I am okay with expressing myself and my emotions through an outlet. I want to give back to the community with more art and music. Art and music bring people together and is a beautiful way to connect to life.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Some honorable mentions would definitely be my parents and a siblings first and foremost. We’ve all been through so much together and separately and have come out on the other side so strong and willing. I’d also love to thank God for keeping me and beliveing in my purpose on this Earth. To Full Sail University for connecting me with so many great people like Mike, a recording arts major. To TMC Orlando who I have worked closely with producing, modeling, photographing, connecting at events, and just beliving in my dreams as much as me (Special shoutout to Koastal and Fab). Koastal has been a very informative mentor showing the ends and outs of the music industry and not sugar coating it. I’m surrounded by many artist who are very hardworking and have been in the game for a long time. A special shoutout to Pig the Gemini, a local orlando artist who I have been close to for awhile now. She goes on tour and has these amazing shows that allow people to be themselves without judgment.
