Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Jimenez.
Hi Kimberly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I remember from the young age of 6 years old; my Grandmother would take me to run errands with her. I would go to the bank with her and grab like 10 pamphlets. You know, those pamphlets that talk to you about loans and APR. When we’d return to her home, I would lay them across the long mahogany wood coffee table in her living room. I would play pretend and act as if I was talking to people. Fast forward 33 years later, and who would have thought I’d be hosting my very own Meetups around Orlando, empowering women over coffee at local shops and even in my own home?
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy road. This has been a passion of mine since a young age. I’ve overcome being led by the wrong mentor, losing loved ones, having plenty of health scares, and sometimes battling comparison and also being a mom. These obstacles shouldn’t hold you back but catapult you. Having kids hasn’t stopped me from fulfilling my purpose. I just included them. It may not happen as quickly as I want, but I know I will get there.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Mom of 5, married to Mr. Jimenez (Fun Fact: We got married on The Steve Harvey Show); I host my own Podcast, “The Hype Girl Talk Show,” and have a passion for fashion, coffee, and women empowerment. I’ve been on National TV 3 times. People know me because of my outlandish and eclectic style. My motto is “If you can rock it, wear it!” Be bold and who Christ has called you to be. You can catch me hyping women up through my podcast during Koffee Talk with Kim, which is held at various restaurants, coffee shops, church, and even at my dining room table.
Do you have any advice for those just starting?
Keep pushing and be you! There are too many cookie-cutter people out there. If it’s placed in your heart, it’s meant for you. Of course, it can be taken away if you sit on your talent. But if you continue to be passionate and persistent, you will get to where you want to be. No matter how many obstacles come your way, keep pushing! I remember that when I first started, I almost gave up. But three random people who don’t even know each other write to me within the same week, all asking about my blog and how much they love and resonate with it. I didn’t get the shares or likes that other influencers did, but my stories were still touching people. Don’t let the likes and shares discourage you. People are reading and watching even if they don’t tell you.
