Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Clark.
Hi Krystal, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey starts as the oldest of six children. We had a busy household growing up. As you can imagine, my parents had their hands full caring for each of us, providing for us, and supporting our dreams. My parents worked really hard. I can remember my stepdad walking holes in his shoes and sacrificing a new pair for himself so that one of my siblings or I could have what we needed.
Based on my upbringing, I knew there were two things I wanted to achieve in life:
1) I wanted to be THERE for my future children.
2) I wanted to be in a good financial position to care for my parents when they were ready to retire after all the sacrifices they made for me and my siblings.
Before even having kids, I knew I wanted to drive them to school, help with homework, and be available to support them in their activities and dreams. Family has always been very important to me. I envisioned my dreams and goals for my life and family has always been at the center of it all. I always wondered. “Geez. How did my parents do it all with full-time jobs?” Now that I’m an adult with my own child, I know it had to be a big stressful challenge.
After college, I worked at jobs that completely drained me of all of my creativity and joy to lead. I’ve worked in the wedding business, the car business, and customer service all of my adult life. Nothing aligned with my dream of freedom and flexibility for a family-focused lifestyle. Aside from the family life I envisioned, I wanted to be creative, organized, and innovative with the work I do.
I took the leap five years ago to start my own creative online business as a virtual assistant and I haven’t looked back. Within two years, I quickly scaled my knowledge and skills to become a workflow and productivity strategist for business owners.
Now, I help entrepreneurs work smarter with tech systems and workflows so they can get more done, close their laptops, and get back to the things and people that fill their cups. The work I do helps me and the business owners I serve to spend time on what actually lights them up; all while working at home with my daughter. Mission accomplished!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Becoming a business owner is not always a smooth road. You don’t always have all the answers and sometimes you get discouraged that you haven’t progressed more than you feel you should have. I’m learning to trust the process so that I can find clarity and solutions without being too hard on myself. Owning your own business also comes with the sometimes scary honor of wearing all the hats. I get to be a marketing, HR specialist, web designer, and systems expert for myself. It was a challenge in the beginning but I’ve developed so many skills over the years.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a workflow strategist, I help entrepreneurs who serve other business owners get organized with systems and automation so they can work, serve, and live better. I’m all about helping business owners save time so they can enjoy the freedom that comes with being their own boss.
I’m a rare bird in the fact that I’m both creative and analytical. I can set up systems and also design very pretty graphics that go with everything too. I have the ability for both the left and right sides of my brain to light up with ideas every time I touch a project or find solutions to problems. It’s so much fun.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In a nutshell, I think tech is taking over the world. There is always a new hot app, system or tool that helps people in business work easier. There will always be a person needed to help people customize those tools to how they work with their teams and I’m here for the ride.
