Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyla Gress.
Hi Kyla, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been taking photos for as long as I can remember. All throughout high school I was taking sports photos for my high school teams, when December 2023 I decided to make it a business. I started an Instagram and did as much learning and practice as I possibly could. Since then, I have made it to my two years in business, and so much has happened along the way! I have so many long-term goals, and looking back I have grown so much as a photographer and a human!! I cannot wait to see what the future holds for my business, this is definitely my forever.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been pretty smooth. I’d say, there are always bumps in the road, but I think that being a good business owner is learning how to handle those well!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a lifestyle photographer! I specialize in mostly motherhood photography, including births, newborn sessions, maternity sessions, etc. That is definitely my passion, I have known from the very start that I was going to move forward in the motherhood world of photography, and I have done just that! But I am definitely not limited to only that, I absolutely love a lot of other things as well, I do couples, families, graduating seniors, portraits, milestone sessions, holiday sessions, etc! I have also done a couple of weddings along the way! Courthouse, weddings, elopement, and traditional wedding days!! One of my many goals is to second shoot for as many local wedding photographers as I can, and grow my wedding portfolio! I hope in the future, I can mostly be a motherhood & wedding photographer, while still doing many other kinds of sessions here & there. And I think because of that goal, that is what separates me for most photographers is the most! Most photographers would hear someone say “I want to be a motherhood and wedding photographer” & tgink that they’re crazy. But that’s what I do, & that’s why I am different than most. I am so passionate and what I do, and I treat every single client as if I know them personally.
What makes you happy?
Making others happy. I am an empath down to my core! I always have, and I believe that I definitely always will be. It has definitely taken some self work to value myself a little bit more so that I’m not always cutting myself short for others, but I am so proud of myself for embracing who I really am!
