Daily Inspiration: Meet Lasheena Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lasheena Williams.

Hi Lasheena, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am a native of South Florida and a dedicated community advocate with over 15 years in program development and nonprofit management. With a passion for service and a desire to create thriving communities, I continually offer support to my community by contributing my expertise to various local and nationally-recognized organizations.

I played a strategic role in the growth and maintenance of a national youth development organization in which I developed, delivered, and evaluated various youth programs. My dedication to youth development led to the founding of L.O.V.E Our Youth in 2012, a nonprofit organization providing youth programs meant to encourage confidence and connect local partners with program services to provide a greater impact in the community.

With a desire to serve our community in a greater capacity, L.O.V.E Our Youth, Inc. was launched with it’s first event in 2012. Where I stepped out on faith and posted a flyer for the first meeting. One mentee attended the first meeting and from there, it evolved into a platform for other mentors to donate their time and resources to help uplift the youth. For the mentee, it became a catalyst to recruit other friends and family to join and benefit from the valuable experiences offered by these mentors. Every meeting grew the membership of L.O.V.E Our Youth and eventually expanded its mission.

Leading to the launch of the three program focus areas:

– L.O.V.E Our Youth
– L.O.V.E Our Community
– L.O.V.E Others

As a Nonprofit Enthuiasist, my action toward youth development has fueled my desire to empower organizations that will provide services for our communities to flourish. I LOVE my job! I have the pleasure of working daily to support nonprofit organizations in the capacity of a nonprofit consultant.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey is not easy but it is definitely worth it! It took me almost 10 years and a lot of prayers to lead me to where I am today. My biggest struggle was me. I kept getting in my own way. Opportunities would arise and I would decline them because I would rather stay behind the scenes. I do what I do because I love it, it is my passion, and my purpose. Until one day I was reminded that this passion and purpose that I have is not about me, it is about the youth and the community that I serve. At that moment, I got my introverted self out of my own way and started taking advantage of opportunities to expand my reach in serving others more.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
