Daily Inspiration: Meet Lauren Villalobos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Villalobos.

Hi Lauren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2019, I started working as a victim advocate at a domestic violence shelter. As you can probably guess, you hear about the worst in humanity every single day and it’s your job to provide that emotional support to those who have escaped the violence and abuse. I quickly learned that having an outlet was important to avoid burnout. I’ve always loved creating things and I grew up with dogs, this is when I had to idea to make handmade dog bandanas! My grandma was a seamstress so I spent time with her while she taught me how to sew. I made a few bandanas, took product photos and uploaded them to Etsy! Now about two years later, I have over 1000 sales and bought my first She Shed as the Just For Woofs Boutique Headquarters!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
YUP! Everything has gone according to plan! SIKE. There have been some rough patches and struggles! My biggest personal struggle has been comparing my small shop to other dog shops… and it’s true, comparison is the thief of joy. Now I truly embrace the “community over competition” mindset.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Just For Woofs Boutique is all about spoiling (and matching) your furbabies! JFW has dog bandanas and bows that all have the option to get a matching scrunchie, resin dog tags, dog mom keychains, leash sleeves and some home decor options! I started out with just having the dog bandanas and matching scrunchies and added everything else over time. Honestly, I thought we would be “known” for our dog bandanas, but the resin dog tags have taken off and became a quick crowd favorite! I’m most proud of making a product that people use almost everyday. The dog accessories are all trendy and timeless, so they’re something you can use over and over again, year after year. Quality is something we take very seriously at JFW and we make sure to look at every detail. You deserve the best when you choose to spend your hard-earned money on something.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That I’m a HUGE soccer fan! My two favorite teams are FC Barcelona and Orlando City Soccer Club. I got into soccer back in 2010 and watched Spain win the world cup. My dads whole side of the family lives in Spain, so it was pretty special to see them win the World Cup. I’ve had the privilege to travel to Barcelona to see FC Barcelona play and since I live in Orlando, I see Orlando City play pretty often where I cheer them on in the Ruckus, the Orlando City supporters club.
