Today we’d like to introduce you to Leia Perez. They and their team shared their story with us below:
The Orlando Brunchfest is a fundraising event for the local wedding charity Wedding Wish which grants weddings and mental health services to couples suffering from life-altering health circumstances.
Wedding Wish was founded in 2020 by the owner of the couture wedding cake bakery Candyland Designs. After deciding to donate a wedding cake to one couple in need the baker found herself reading multiple love stories and wanting to do so much more.
The first three years of the nonprofit services granted by Wedding Wish were mostly funded by the bakery, Candyland Designs. But this year we’re inviting the community to come have brunch with us to raise money to grant more weddings.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Finding funding has been our biggest challenge. We used a grant writer to no avail. So now we’re going the festival route which is completely funded by the bakery Candyland Designs.

The Wedding Wish Foundation hosts many private events each year including our wedding grants and the annual Bridal Ball.
The Orlando Brunchfest, however, will be a massive public event with bottomless mimosas and an open bar sponsored by Blue Chair Bay Rum by Kenny Chesney and Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company. We will also have many amazing brunch vendors including STK Steakhouse and Parlor Kitchen.
The entertainment lineup includes music on stage with DJ 4Beadz, Cash Cube cash prizes, giveaways from the Orlando Guardians, Coopershawk Winery, The Orlando City Pride, and more. And to top it all off a mechanical bull riding arena!
What does success mean to you?
We would define this event as a success if we’re able to raise enough funds for the next 5 weddings without having to take money from the bakery.
