Today we’d like to introduce you to Leona Gold.
Hi Leona, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
2018 I started earthfest at Reinegers flea market on441 in mt dora .We built an art village at a recycled materials and opened it on earth’s birthday.I allowed artists from all over the state to come.And get a table for only ten dollars. hundreds of artists showed up and parking overflowed on multiple acres they even had to open extra parking. Areas because of such a big turnout. I knew from that moment I could never stop bringing artists together
Once I knew the community was behind these principles.I was unstoppable.We kept going with a permanent home at maddox ranch.In lakeland florida, we had five good years there.. with hundreds of artists over three hundred musicians for everything from d j’s bands, comedy and local artists of every kind, we had drum circles.One year, we even had seven local Indian drum tribes come together, something that had never been done in the state with national indian communities. I tried to integrate kid programs.Fun things to do.Art exhibits and educational exhibits each year.I wish I had only had more funding from my state or city to get people. The messages we need.
However, the past two years have been the hardest.It is harder for vendors to make money.It is harder for artists to make money and i’m seeing a a large drop in numbers
Even if all my music friends came out and still supported me.And lifted me without pay.This is not why I built this type of community.I built it so that everybody could see that there is no starving.Artists and we can support each other and everybody can do what they love and make it as a career.. we went to brooksville in 2024 and apopka fl in 2025
At this time, earth fest is looking for a forever.Home with forty one acres needed.Our largest numbers have included over two thousand four hundred people.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had many good years. I had 8 total, but bringing so many different genres of music and people together from all walks of life is challenging as well as creating a safe space for people to party. And create sell and listen to music. Is also hard.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist by trade.But now have booked more local talent in the music.Industry than any other festival for central florida, we were central florida’s largest family art and music festival.for very many years

Don’t quit remember the the goal and why we started this journey in the first place
