Today we’d like to introduce you to Lex.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Blackgirlnextdo was inspired by my childhood seeing images of women who didn’t look like me but had qualities and quirks that made them attractive based on a standard. So, I decided to become my own version of the girl next door, except she’s black, and it’s pronounced doe /do/. My platform began as a blog where I would write on topics ranging from product reviews to the issues affecting the black community. Today, I plan on continuing my journey but incorporating content that’s relatable to and for black women.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy road because I’m in a sense continuing but starting over at the same time. At one point, I had given up which created about a 5-year gap. However, I’m refreshed and reminded of my purpose and passion.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known for creating content for and by black women. I’m most proud of picking up where I left off and getting back into the groove of things but in a different form. What sets me apart from others is my purpose because I’m not focused on followers, likes, or money but rather on making sure my message is heard, and I’m creating content which is my passion.
