Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Fischer.

Lisa Fischer

Hi Lisa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I became a Registered Nurse in 2010. I worked in many different areas of health care throughout my career. However, I have always been drawn to aesthetics and skin care. After working with patients in a hospital setting for 6 years, I decided to continue my education and pursue a Master’s Degree as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. In 2018, I graduated and started working in Vascular Surgery. During this time, I learned abundant knowledge from the surgeon I worked with and the importance of quality patient care and patient-to-provide rapport.

Even though I loved working in vascular surgery, my passion for aesthetics remained. After having 2 years of experience as an APRN, I decided to pursue a career in aesthetics. I applied to various plastic surgeon, dermatology, and medical spas. Most offices wanted someone with experience in injectables or laser, but how do you get experience if no one is willing to train? I knew I had to be aggressive and fight for my goal. I invested in myself, enrolled in a medical training program for aesthetics, and began my journey into certifications over the next year. I can’t even count how many classes I have attended. I continued to work in vascular surgery during this time. It was challenging to juggle the schedules, but I managed. As a mom, wife, and mid-level provider, I found it very difficult to find time for self-care. I realized that there needed to be more hours in the day to accomplish what I wanted to do for myself. In 2020, I decided to take my knowledge and create a medical-based office accommodating a wide variety of services with highly-trained specialists. This is when I began my self-journey into the aesthetic world.

I started Bodyscapes Med Spa in 2021 and started with zero clients, myself and my youngest daughter. My vision was to give patients the knowledge to decide what road to take in their aesthetic journey to achieve their goals. I wanted my patients to feel comfortable and “at home.” I am a perfectionist and needed others with the same mentality to join my team with their unique skill set of services.

We are now almost 2 years into this journey. I have a team of six specialists: an aesthetic APRN, aesthetic RN, IV vitamin therapy RN, Permanent Makeup and fine line tattoo artist, three aestheticians, a lash artist, a spray tan artist, a wax specialist, a makeup artist, a laser technician, and social media manager. We also added a small clothing boutique to our Downtown Melbourne location! We continue to educate daily and continue to grow.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
This journey has not been smooth and has come with many sacrifices. There is so much talent in Brevard County when it comes to the aesthetic world and so much competition! The biggest struggle was to build an aesthetic rapport with patients. After all, one comes to you for aesthetics for self-care and self-improvement. You must listen to the patient’s concerns and education and make knowledge-based recommendations. Knowledge is everything, and in this fast-paced area, things change all the time. Education is ongoing and never ends. I learn something new every day. You learn from obstacles and challenges and build a stronger version of yourself. Everyone makes mistakes. It’s knowing and accepting you made a mistake, learning from it, and knowing how to correct it. This is a fact. I feel that Bodyscapes has impacted Brevard County and will continue to strive for greatness.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love creating a patient plan of care. The aesthetic is truly art. The patient’s face is our palette. It starts with excellent skin care at home and continues with a customized plan based on the patient’s needs and goals. The idea of utilizing a treatment such as microneedling with PRP (for example) and the science behind utilizing the individuals on Growth Factors to stimulate collagen production is exciting. Seeing the look on a patient’s face when they have lost 40 lbs and are no longer overweight is very rewarding as a provider. The improvement of self-confidence and change not only physically but mentally is a game changer. Everything else is a bonus.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some changes you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
This industry continues to change every single day. This industry will only get bigger and more competitive with the talent of new injectors, aestheticians, and Permanent Makeup Artists. Social media plays a huge part in this industry, especially with the high impact of influencers. We need to focus on the most important part of this industry: patient safety. Only some things you see on social media are great ideas or fit each person’s medical history. We are all different.
