Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori McMinn.
Hi Lori, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a nurse since 2012, and during COVID, I started looking into becoming a REALTOR®. We moved back to Orlando in 2021, and I went ahead and took the class and passed the exam on the first try for my sales agent license. I decided to work on a career in real estate so that one day I can retire from nursing and have a better work-life balance.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy start, but I am finally with an amazing company that offers guidance and help. They are there for agents through every step. The hardest part of real estate is leads. You may get leads, but sometimes they need to be more consistent or easier to get in touch with.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to be more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I work as a real estate agent for Robert Slack LLC. I service East Orlando and Seminole County. I grew up in Oviedo and have watched the area expand and change over the last 30 years. My first child was born in Winter Park, so being able to help others make their dreams come true of a new home is a blessing to me. We all know how hard life got for many when COVID hit, and seeing people reach their dreams and goals and being part of that is a fantastic experience. What sets me apart from others is I have 6 children, and I’m a nurse and a REALTOR®. I understand how busy life is and the need to juggle things. I also grew up here, so I know the areas very well. I also understand the importance of school ratings when searching for a home when you have children. As that is something, I look at myself. I’m also an excellent listener, and nursing has taught me to listen to every detail a person is telling me and apply it to their needs.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting?
Be patient, and the leads take time to come by. Be persistent, and don’t give up. Persistence pays off in the end if you truly want to make a real estate career. Also, feel free to step out of your comfort zone.
