Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorien Huddleston.
Hi Lorien, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My name is Lorien Huddleston. I’m a nineteen-year-old entrepreneur, sharing the gift of holistic healing with Dōterra essential oils and creating art through my lens. I am indigenous, from the Lakota tribe of South Dakota, born in Seattle and raised in Southern California, Utah, and Florida. At the moment, I do destination photography, working for clients all over the US and abroad.
I began my journey in photography at eleven years old and have been pouring my heart into it ever since. I first found my spark through photographing horses and equestrians, which grew into a deep passion for all kinds of portraits and artistic photography! I spent most of high school traveling around the US and other countries with my parents, growing my creative skills and learning as much as possible while they grew their essential oil business.
My family discovered Dōterra’s essential oils in 2008. My mom was raising 5 kids and working to support our family as my dad battled stage 4 cancer. After trying countless medications and rounds of chemo, the oils became the very thing that saved my dad and my family in both health and finances. Twelve years later, my dad is cancer free, and my parents are leaders of a thriving business with Dōterra. I grew my own testimony for the oils in 2015 while struggling heavily with depression and anxiety. Many of the emotional oil blends, such as Breathe, helped me immensely on my healing journey and to this day, are my most cherished products.
The oils are now like oxygen to me- something I simply can’t live without and my solution to everything. I’ve learned so much about the importance of healing our bodies with completely pure, natural products and continuously seek to expand my knowledge on ways of doing that.
In addition to being a wellness advocate, I am environmentalist and humanitarian. Finding ways to help our planet and those we share it with is one of my greatest values, and as we all know, saving the world is impossible to do alone. I have a deep love Dōterra because through their Co-Impact sourcing and Healing Hands foundation; they are changing the lives of millions and redefining what it means to truly heal and help others. This is my dream and my life’s work – taking the gift of nature and making the most of what has already been given to us by giving back to others. Creating a future on Earth more beautiful than one could even imagine for everyone.
So, what’s the catch, you might ask? Believe it or not, there isn’t one. In fact, there is truly nothing but countless benefits and blessings for absolutely everyone involved. The oils are the purest in the world, created by some of the best scientists and doctors, sourced from their native regions, and grown in the most sustainable ways with incredible farmers everywhere. As a service-based company, that is where the power of the oils comes from and why Dōterra has been so successful. Our business is designed to be achievable for all to grow. Regardless of age, working full-time, or on the side, it is designed to fit into your life so you can be your own boss while building passive income and taking back your life.
For a young adult, this is a dream come true, which is why since the moment I turned 18 (the starting age in which you can grow a Dōterra business), I have passionately been sharing the oils and helping others on their holistic healing journey. It’s my greatest joy more helping other young adults and people of all ages achieve this same freedom so they too can follow their passions and live a life that touches countless others.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve had my fair share of challenges along the way, but each experience been incredibly valuable, and I’ve learned so much. Becoming fully independent at a very young age while growing my own businesses and living far from family has tested my strength and trust in the process many times, but it’s brought me where I am today, and for that, I am so thankful. Every day has become an opportunity for me to choose my passions and my purpose over and over again. Having dealt with mental health issues, family trials, and heartbreak has truly allowed me to see how much is possible when we decide deliberately and keep moving forward no matter what. I’ve found peace and power in even the most painful moments through these dreams of mine, knowing how much they are giving me and countless others. This journey is priceless to me and worth working for.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a professional photographer and holistic healer. I’ve specialized in artistic equestrian, couple/engagement, newborn, maternity, and editorial portrait photography for over seven years and am fully self-taught. I also grew up emersed in holistic healing and have been learning and teaching ever since I can remember. Out of all my endeavors, I feel most proud of my creative power and all that I get to be a part of working with Dōterra, sharing essential oils through holistic healing. Witnessing countless lives being changed for the better through natural healing and seeing the level of impact our company is having on the world has been truly astounding. In addition to this, creating art everywhere I go, working with some of the most amazing people and animals while capturing precious stories and love through my lens, has been nothing short of magical. I feel both fields of my work have so much value to offer others, especially with the pure energetic intention and priceless passion poured into them. All of that said, I feel deeply thankful knowing what I get to bring to those I am serving, knowing I will always go above and beyond for them – ensuring they are left overjoyed and excited for more, feeling truly seen and cared for.
What were you like growing up?
As a child, I was endlessly charmed by the magic I saw all around me- in animals, nature, and people. I have always held so much love and compassion for the world around me and those in it. Growing up, I was gentle, kind, silly, outgoing, and so excited to create. Fun Fact: I’ve been vegetarian since I was nine years old, which was encouraged by the cow I raised at the time. My fondness for everything natural and love for the planet has followed me everywhere throughout life, carrying into all that I do. Even when I was a little girl, I would make YouTube videos or take pictures of my toys everywhere I went, and at one point had over 25k on Instagram for that content. Though I outgrew that field of interest, my love for photography and essential oils only got bigger and has led me to where I am now.
