Daily Inspiration: Meet Marie Lopez Fuentes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Lopez Fuentes.

Hi Marie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Marie Lopez, I am from Venezuela, and I am 32 years old. I studied business administration at the University of Carabobo, Venezuela. While I was studying business, I got a job in Telefonica, well-known in south America, Movistar. During this time, I discovered my passion for working with customer service. I think that was a great time of my life because I learned so much from both experiences. Studying and working simultaneously allowed me to learn how to manage business and interact with clients, so I loved that time of my life. I love Venezuela, our people, and our cultures. But due to the political situation in my country, I decided to emigrate to the United States. So in 2017, I decided to move to Orlando with my husband and my 1-year-old daughter.

In the beginning, it was challenging. But after a couple of months in this country, aI found a job at a Colombian restaurant called “Simón Parrilla Bar and Grill” as a waitress. I did not have any experience, but I decided to give it a try. It was one of the best decisions that I have ever taken because currently, I am the manager of Simon parrilla. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed at the beginning of the pandemia, I saw this tragedy as an opportunity to learn something different, so I decided to invest in myself and got a license for heath care-insurance.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I cannot complain about my experience moving to this country. However, the road has not been straightforward, with many up and down. I have worked in multiple places to find my place. But, Without a doubt, God has been my guide, and having the support of my mother, husband, sister, family, and friends that I have met has been the key in my adaptation here. Infinite thanks to all of them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently developing as a Life and Health Insurance Advisor. I am the manager of the new headquarters of the Simón Parrilla Bar and Grill Restaurant in Longwood. In my free time, I create content on social networks through my account @marielopezfuentes. I like to show my experience and inspire other women how it is possible to be a mother, a manager, an insurance agent, and an immigrant woman in this country.

Any big plans?
Grow as an insurance agent, and be able to have my own agency. Make myself known through social networks to reach many women and teach them that if you can start over, you can achieve what you want. Hard work, honesty, and tenacity lead to success.
