Today we’d like to introduce you to Mauria Smith.
Hi Mauria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In my very early twenties, I began my career as a licensed esthetician after realizing I had a passion for skincare, how skin functioned, and how to maintain and keep it in pristine shape through personalized care and treatment which ultimately brought me to my current career of makeup artistry. It wasn’t always clear what my path would look like, but I knew I had to pursue it, even if it meant stepping out of my comfort zone.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many difficulties and struggles to overcome, and it’s been far from a smooth road. Limited resources and working through self doubt have been extremely challenging to overcome, but it created an inner strength that’s unmatched.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a licensed esthetician and makeup artist, working primarily in the areas of beauty, editorial and production. I’m most proud of relocating to the city of Orlando in 2011, knowing absolutely no one in the industry, and carving out a community for myself that respects my approach to the art of makeup all while keeping black women the pinnacle and focus of who I offer makeup services to as we are quite often underserved and underrepresented.
What sets me apart is the overall esthetic of my work which can be described as timeless, clean and classic, as well as the longevity in the beauty industry I’ve been so blessed to maintain which now spans well over a decade.

“The High Performance Planner” is an excellent resource that I’ve found to be incredibly beneficial in taking charge and charting a path for each day, and it assists with keeping your inner dialogue on par for what you’ve set forth to accomplish.
