Daily Inspiration: Meet Mia J. Hunt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia J. Hunt.  

Hi Mia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a 35-year-old survivor. This is what I call my life, from then until now. At this point, I am living. I am a Mother of 4 and they are my why’s. I begin interested in makeup because I wanted to help others enhance and not cover up. I’ve seen it done so terribly before to where I just want to help young ladies know that, it didn’t take all that to show their natural beauty. I dealt with self-esteem issues growing up and I wanted to help change the world by way of using makeup. Though beauty is skin deep, I wanted the outside of a person to shine as the inside should. 

I also have wanted to own my own makeup line as well as my own studio salon. So, through many trials and errors as well as many very hard and rough days, I finally stuck with it until I began to see my dream coming to fruition. I am amazed to be in the place that I now am and sharing with so many other young women, the joys of beauty through my lens and brushes. I currently own one studio and I have a cosmetic line that ranges from lip liner to foundations and everything in between. 

I am proud that I kept going and kept God first. He is by far the only way I have made it this far. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been all smooth and guesses what? I am grateful for that. It has shown me strength and endurance. 

Some of the challenges I faced was keeping people to work in the studio with me. This alone has been one of the most challenging. I have faced this and now I am overcoming it. My trust no longer relies on others but on God. I know, He’s got me. Not knowing sometimes if I would make enough to continue paying the rent. This was a hard thing to face during some months when it would be extremely slow but I wasn’t able to shut the doors. They still had to work for me. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I absolutely love all things makeup. One of my favorite things to do is weddings. Being able to travel and become family with the brides is absolutely amazing. I help to relieve most of their anxiety and stress. It is so rewarding to me to see the smiles and sometimes tears, of joy, of course! I absolutely loved it. Oh, and being able to give them the total experience is amazing to me. It is something that you think of more than the after look of your fabulous makeup. That’s what sets me apart from any other artist. 

Makeup is my passion. I love creating beauty, enhanced. 

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was when one of the local stores was going out of business and Mama purchased everything on the makeup isle. Oh my, I was in heaven. I even remember the smell of the packs.
