Daily Inspiration: Meet Mike Haffner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Haffner.

Hi Mike, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved venturing out to new places, experiencing new things and meeting new people. One day my friend suggested that I turn my personal Instagram into a blog. He said since I’m always going to awesome places and taking photos that I should share them with people. After that, I started posting and discovered that a lot of businesses use social media to promote their businesses.

My page started out as mainly local events and food. However, I wanted to help some of my favorite local restaurants during covid and it transitioned to almost all food. I’ve met hundreds of people in the community that already had blogs and they were very helpful in giving me tips to grow my page. Over the last 18 months, I’ve grown my page and I am slowly getting back to covering fun activities and local events. I’m trying to always reinvent my page to stay on top of what my audience likes and I’m beginning to highlight more areas outside Orlando and even day trips they can try.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has its ups and downs. It does take up most of my free time and sometimes it can be hard to balance your work life and personal life. During covid, I really had to figure out how to approach promoting restaurants differently to appeal to people. I think the biggest challenge though is remaining unique amongst so many different creators out there. It’s really easy to fall into a “copy and paste” mode where you want to get the same “shots” or cover the same places but you have to figure out how to do it in your own style.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I run JustPotus LLC and I promote local businesses through digital marketing, showcase events happening in the area and even homemade recipes. I’m known for my day trips to different cities which, include NYC, Tampa, Miami, Savannah. I’m always finding new and interesting things for people to try in Orlando and beyond. Not many people will get on a plane at 6 am, fly to NYC for the day to eat and explore and then come back before midnight, all in the same day. I like showing people that it’s possible to go on fun and amazing adventures without needing to break the bank.

What’s next?
I’m currently building my website and planning more collaborative based content with other local creators and businesses. I also want to incorporate more homemade recipes for people to try in my content.
