Daily Inspiration: Meet Miledys Felix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miledys Felix.

Hi Miledys, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At the age of 6, I was enrolled in a small performing arts school; there, I was able to learn and gain interest in the field of acting, modeling, and commercials. I continued pursuing that interest till I moved to Florida at the age of 13. Then I took a small break since I didn’t know of any agencies in the area. At the age of 17, I got the privilege to participate in my first national pageant, where I got the honor to represent my Puerto Rican community at state level in Arizona. I didn’t win the crown, but I made it into the top 10 finalists. And since then, it opened many doors for me into the modeling world. Since then, I’ve grown into the professional I am today. I’ve had the chance of modeling and walking in New York Fashion Week and in Steps New York. In 2021 I decided to join one last pageant/competition where I won Miss Orlando Top Model and won best runway. This opened more doors for me into the industry, which is when I found an interest in Instagram influencing documenting my life as a model and showing my title. Which is when I officially started content creating and branded myself a fashion, lifestyle, travel content creator and model. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work with many small brands and big brands such as Shein, Skims, IconSwim, and more. In 2022, my Instagram grew, and I reached a great amount of followers. This is only the beginning of my story, and I can’t wait to keep growing as a professional and individual, to keep sharing my story.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As amazing as the story sounds, it wasn’t that easy to get to where I am today. And I think everyone’s life story is never easy. Since I was little, I suffered from bullying for looking and being “different.” Since pre-k I was one of the tallest girls in my class and that made me stand out but not in a good way. I grew up not being confident and always looking for my insecurities since that’s what people liked to point out the most. When my family made the big move to move to Florida, I was scared because it was a whole new lifestyle and a different language from what I usually spoke. Even though in Puerto Rico it is mandatory to learn English, I was just scared to speak it constantly. Later on, I had the courage to join my first pageant, and instead of hearing people congratulating me for the courage to join a pageant, all I would hear was the typical pageant girl stereotype “you need to be skinnier”, “taller,” and “have experience.” Even after all those negative comments, I was able to win a title and still compete at a state level against 50 girls. Along the way, I struggled to find who truly was “Miledys” with having others telling me who I needed to be and what I needed to do. Through it all, I found the confidence I needed to share my story and come out of my comfort zone. Since then, it still hasn’t been easy, I’ve been learning through the process. But I realized that as an influencer and content creator, I wanted to share the self-love and confidence I was able to find within myself. Through my platforms I was to share that if you don’t love or celebrate yourself, who will? My mission is to always have a positive impact on anyone I cross paths with. I want to encourage everyone to love themselves because stepping out of our comfort zones can be scary but fun! I want to inspire everyone to live the life they’ve dreamed of and most importantly, have fun while creating the life they want!

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a content creator, influencer, and model in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. I specialize in expressing the art I create with photographers and expanding brands with my followers. I believe I’m known for the girl that does a lot of unboxing videos on her stories from lots of different clothing brands and just by posting about my travels. It’s always funny and interesting listening to how others view me from social media because of my stories and posts. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and the people I’ve met throughout the way who have shaped me  into the person I am today. I’m proud that I started not knowing anything about the influencing/content creating world and how to expand myself on social media, it wasn’t easy, but all the work paid off. What sets me apart from others is that I’ve maintained myself throughout this whole media content journey. Even after all the attention and huge amount of followers I’ve stayed true to myself, and showing my crazy, hectic life is what attracted others to follow me. By just being me on social media and posting what I truly want and believe has given me the attention and following that I currently have and that’s what keeps me going for more.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is to be yourself always no matter what. Many can lose themselves in what is being an influencer on social media but staying true to yourself is key. Being yourself can take you a long way in life. Also, I’ve learned to be patient with the process; and learning how to love the process is important as well. I’ve learned that rejection is okay, and you are not always going to be the perfect fit for the brand and what they are looking for. But being able to say I reached out, that I tried, that I branded myself and put myself out there is what counts. This is a never ending process and I’m here to enjoy the ride.
