Daily Inspiration: Meet Mo & Dave Strickland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mo & Dave Strickland.

Hi Mo & Dave, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We started our love for photography when we first adopted our kids. We couldn’t stop taking pictures and capturing every moment we were able to. Our passion only blossomed from there, when friends started asking us to take pics of their families as well. We decided to turn that love of capturing memories, into a small business to help others capture their moments and help with added expenses of having a family, and we’ve been doing it ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Dave was diagnosed with an eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa (or RP for short) it is a disease that gradually steals his eyesight over time. He has lost most all, but his central vision and can no longer drive. He doesn’t let it stop him from living life to it’s fullest and being a photographer, though and is Mo’s right hand man in the business. Mo has several auto immune diseases that cause chronic pain and exhaustion. It’s a daily struggle for both of us, but we do not let these things hold us back.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a husband and wife team of photographers. We are best known for our graduating senior sessions, and book out quickly for those every year. We try to set ourselves apart from other photographers, by really trying to get to know our clients before their sessions, to capture who they are, best, their personalities, interests, hobbies, even trying to recommend the best locations to capture their personalities. We make them feel relaxed all while having fun!
We are proud that we continue to grow and learn with our work and don’t let anything stop us from doing what we love most. We are also proud that we have been married 33 years, work side by side each day together, and we’re still here. LOL

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Getting to know your clients wants and needs before their sessions. We also are very laid back and joke a lot with our clients so they have a blast when they didn’t think taking pictures COULD be fun. We offer posing guidance to help those who just not sure how to pose. (Which is most clients) We make sure the images we deliver are top quality.
