Daily Inspiration: Meet Mo Malik

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mo Malik.

Hi Mo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my Pro Wrestling journey in 2023. I came across the House of Champions Pro Wrestling Training Center in Longwood and signed up for a free class. I played sports growing up but had no prior experience in Pro Wrestling – I was just a fan from a young age. So I thought, ‘let’s give this a shot’, what do I have to lose?

I went in for my free class and was blown away by the environment, the facility, and the training. Everyone (from all skill levels) were super welcoming and patient as they took me through a basic training regimen for beginners.

I went home that night knowing that I would most likely sign up for a monthly membership but wanted to sleep on it. Since then, I signed up and never looked back. I committed – 3 days/week consistently. Rarely skipping days so I can progress in my training and work towards being able to have matches. I also realized that if I wanted to pursue this, I needed to put in work outside of the ring as well. I was a pretty thin guy and knew that I needed to pack on some size to be able to keep up. So I locked in, got a on a strict meal prep plan and gym regime and put on 45lbs in the span of a year.

Fast forward a year and some change later, I eventually progressed through the curriculum, got my body in shape, and started to wrestle in matches. Looking back, it all happened so quickly but so much in the between to get to this point. Even now, wrestling matches at the House of Champions (HOC) and around Florida – there is still so much to learn! There are a million and one things when it comes to Pro Wrestling and I’m consistently trying to learn and get better as I go.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. Even with me playing sports my entire life – this is without a doubt one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Not only the physical toll, but mentally as well. It truly is an art form. A lot of fans see it as a bunch of guys and gals slamming each other, but there’s so much psychology that goes in to Pro Wrestling. As I was getting through the curriculum, there were injuries, challenges in learning certain moves, frustrations with not understanding why I couldn’t pick up some things as fast as I wanted, etc. But that’s the thing about wrestling- there’s always something else to learn. You may learn a super complex move really quickly, but then you may struggle to learn something very basic. It’s so weird!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Professional Wrestler that wrestles across Florida. I’m hoping to pick up additional bookings this year outside of Florida as well, as the year goes on. I’m most proud of the support I receive from my friends and family. When I told them this is something I’m pursuing, they were nervous but also weren’t surprised. I’ve been a Pro Wrestling fan my entire life and I played sports, so this was right up my alley.

What sets me apart from others is my high energy, charisma, and agility/speed. Every time I hit the curtain during my entrance before a match, I come out with a ton of energy and enthusiasm and the crowd sends that that right back to me. It’s a beautiful exchange of energy and gets me fired up before a match.

I also represent my home country, Morocco, which is where I was born before my parents moved to Orlando at the age of 7. Being able to represent Morocco means a lot to me for many reasons. People tell me all the time that they didn’t even know where Morocco was prior to finding about it through me, so it’s cool to hear that I get to represent and highlight my people through my wrestling, my gear, and social media.

How do you think about happiness?
I’m happy to have the opportunity to do what I love on a daily basis. Whether it’s wrestling, fitness, riding my motorcycle, or hanging out with my dogs; I’m super grateful to do what I love!
