Daily Inspiration: Meet Natalie Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Smith.

Hi Natalie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I am a new author. The title of my book is Smile on Purpose, Finding the peace in the Pain, Basic steps to smiling while broken during your healing process is the name of my upcoming book that will be out this year. I went to a writers retreat in December of 2021 and met Dr. Oliver T Reid known as the writing coach. This would change my life. I always knew I wanted to be an author of a book or even books. I just never knew how to go about it. As a teenager, I would write about any and everything going on in my life. This was very therapeutic for me. I would have notebooks and journals of things I wrote and would reflect to. My goal in life was to motivate and inspire other women who were broken just like me learn how to cope and heal. I wanted my book to be a light at the end of someone’s tunnel. I wanted to give someone hope in knowing they are not alone and there is always help in any situation. The writer’s retreat I attended gave me the tools I needs to create my book in 3 days. I was able to complete writing the entire book in under 30 days.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The challenges I faced throughout my life was never putting myself first and always taking care of others making sure their emotional needs were met and putting myself on hold. I later learned I couldn’t help anyone else until I got help myself. It was always hard for me to finish writing. I would start and get writer’s block. I later learned that each life experience was a different chapter. I never stopped writing. I had scattered thoughts everywhere and didn’t know how to piece them together. I went through a lot of challenges early on growing up with a father who suffered from PTSD as a Vietnam Vet who later died early at the age of 42 from a heart attack in my presence. That devastated me as a young girl at 15. I had my own issues of depression and anxiety for many years. Without having the knowledge and tools to get help for myself I went through life holding everything inside and my only outlet was my pen and paper. It took losing almost everything I had being divorced, heartbroken, and homeless to awaken my desire again to become an author because I wanted to share some of my story and how I learned how to cope and become a better version of myself in the process.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Outside of being a new author. I am a full-time employee. I am a communication specialist. I talk to people every day and make them feel good about taking care of themselves and getting the help they need. This is something that comes natural to me. I enjoy helping others become a better version of themselves. I care for people, and I am passionate about what I do. I take every relationship I build with others serious. I am that person you can open up to and there is no judgment. I try to be a bridge to get people struggling through healing to the other side of whatever they are going through. I offer peer support through my personal life’s experiences. I also help people get the help they need through therapy by guiding them in the right direction to find a therapist that can help them through their situation.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions to things you are not sure of. Never overcomplicate what you want to do. Seek help ask questions and the universe will respond just get moving. It’s never about the how just start and the how will manifest itself.
